Hello Everyone!

I'm curious - do any of you have sailors who have become shellbacks?  I believe the ship has crossed the equator.  My son became a shellback two years ago.  His certificate is so cool, I put it in a frame and have it hanging in his room.

Have a great day!

I believe to call from the ship it has to be a ship to shore card. My son gets his on the ship in the ship store.

Hi does anyone know what kind of calling card to buy for my daughter. She is on the ship and wants to call home. Please advise. Thank you for any help.

He is finishing up A school and was told he would spend a few months out on the ship, he isn't thrilled to go from A school straight to the ship but it won't be for to long so it could be worse. (:

You're welcome Brooke. Please feel free to ask questions and tell us about yourself and your sailor. We all love sailor stories! Is your fiancé already on the ship or will he be joining it later?

Awesome Joshmom, thanks for clearing that up!(:

TerriNavyMom - glad your daughter made it safely. Always hard to see them go but at the same time it sure makes you proud to see the excitement in their eyes as they head off to start their next adventure. Best of luck to her and I hope she has a rewarding and positive experience. Happy Sailors = Happy Moms!!

Welcome Brooke! I'm sure this whole thing is confusing especially for the newbies. The hull swap will take place later this summer and then the GW will continue its journey to Virginia arriving there late this year not 2016.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Hi, my fiancé just got orders to the GW and was told he would be out on the ship for a few months and then would end up in Virginia. I was reading some news articles about the ship leaving Japan and switching with the RR, I'm just confused by a lot of the news articles saying the ship wouldn't be in VA until late 2016??
