My sailor never complained about seasickness but he could have had his head hanging over the edge for the whole 10 month deployment and not told me about it. He doesn't share the bad stuff, only the good stuff.

He passed his advancement test, first time out, and now is 1st class. Hooyah! Facebook is full of Tiger Cruise pics & info. So jealous! Really, it's OK. Just so glad he is almost back in CA. Only days away.

We have been lucky enough to have real nice rainfall the last 2 wks and now we have sunshine for a while. This is all good for the farmers. I'm a city girl now but I remember growing up on a farm. My dad could predict the weather by looking at the sky more reliably than the weatherman.

Hi all - Happy Monday & Happy 1st day of June!

britefuture - Glad to hear that your sailor is adjusting & he re-enlisted too!  It's good that he has some others to talk with to help him with the passing of your Aunt....

Welcome Mary0304 - Happy that your SR got ET like he wanted!  Make sure you look through all the pages to the right and also go through the discussion forum above.  You'll find lots of valuable info in both places - and if you don't find what your are looking for, feel free to ask!

Lilo54 - it seems that the mail is just hit & miss.  I only ever sent packages to my son - always used USPS & never had an issue.  Hopefully he can contact the IRS & get it re-sent.  It's too bad he just didn't have it deposited directly in his acct....

Our weather here in SoCal has been a little weird....really warm a few days last week, June gloom this morning (normal), warming up for a few days & then a chance of rain later in the week.  Not gonna complain though 'cuz we need the rain.  We had a bunch of new water restrictions take effect today because of our severe drought situation....I saw a statistic on the news over the weekend that Texas has received enough rain in the last few weeks to cover the entire state in 8" of water.  Something like 35 trillion gallons of water.  I just can't even imagine - and it's sad the number of people that have died due to the flooding.

Got to spend some time with college son & his GF yesterday.  We went bowling!  Boy am I sore today...Didn't get to hear from sailor - he's on another underway.  Saw on my Truman mom's FB page that a # of mom's are mentioning there's been rough seas & their kids are seasick.  I'm anxious to hear how my sailor is doing lol!

Good morning. Happy June everyone. Got a few messages from my favorite Sailor over the weekend as we said goodbye to my Aunt. He missed E5 which is a bummer but said it was his own fault. He didn't get a lot of sleep the night before and was agitated about something, not sure what, so he didn't try real hard on the test. Lesson learned I hope. With the passing of my Aunt he was able to meet not just the ships Chaplain but also his Captain and they arranged for him to meet with, an unfortunately large group of Sailors that have also gotten bad news from home last week. My point is it's forced him to branch out and meet other sailors and share his life experiences. Not an easy task for those "guy types", lol. He also shared that he decided to re-enlist and signed the papers yesterday. That tells me that he is adjusting the Navy and life as a Sailor, ie. he's happy. Yay! Another sigh of relief.

NukeMomCarol- This is the place to come for guidance for sure. And to vent! And to share!

Mary0304- Glad your SR got ET. I assume that's what he wanted? I'm sure there are many more happy moments to come.

Strong thunderstorms here in the Northeast last night. Haven't watched the news in three days. How's our midwest and SoCal families doing?

This is my week for questions, hope you don't mind.  But I know someone will have an answer for me.  This is about the mail again.  When my sailor was home, I asked him how he did on filing his taxes and if he was getting a refund.  He replied fine and yes and he was suppose to get a refund.  I said oh, the refund hasn't come here yet.  Then he said he had it sent to GC because that is where he lives now but had not gotten the federal but did get the state refund.  I asked him the other day if he got it and he said no and had checked with the status.  It was sent back as undeliverable.  Now, my questions is  - is this a normal problem with mail (i have had things returned that were sent to him from me) or is it that my sailor does not check his mail on a regular basis and they figured after a while he must not be there anymore?????  I know he gets a notice for packages but does he get a notice for just regular mail? Or if it came after his A school grad and class and rank changed, did that affect it?   Thanks in advance!

Hey to Beth W. Our Sailor arrived in GC following his graduation from BC two weeks ago.  He also has been "cleaning" and was attending a few indoc "sessions".  They also had a class on setting goals.  Briefs, (not underwear...but something else) begin this week at some point.  I just have some much specific information....  :)   I do know how nice it is to be able to call our Sailor in the evenings and that he has liberty on the weekends to see his GF and go to church.  I do not even have a class/group  number in order to send mail.  Still many ????????????????  However, he is fine.  Be encouraged, they are all in this together.

britefuture - so glad to hear that the Chaplain was able to meet with your son.  Nice to know that he didn't have to find out about this on FB...continued prayers to your whole family....and hugs to you to momma!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend - we are expecting really warm weather this weekend - I for one am looking forward to it!

Have a good one all ;-)

Beth W. welcome out of the shadows. This place will make your day much brighter. Good luck to your Sailor. I look forward to reading about your journey.

Just to update. The Red Cross only notifies for immediate family, but they were great. The Ombudsman for his ship was absolutely amazing. She was compassionate and helped me articulate when I was just unable to speak through the tears. She notified the ships Chaplain and he had a face to face meeting with my Sailor.

I hope my son realizes what a wonderful family he entered in to two plus years ago at his swearing in.

Thank you all for the love and support. I truly value each one of you.

BTW, I was wearing my red today. Were you?
