For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Son left today (6-15-15) for boot camp
Today was the day, and he left around 11:30 this morning. I am bursting with pride for him, and very proud of the young man he has become. But, man, am I sad for myself. It was so very hard giving him that final hug and turning him loose. For 20 years he has slept under my roof. All I can think about is how fast those 20 years went by, and that although he is ready, I was not. I know it will get better for me...I just hope it's soon. He got teary-eyed when he hugged me good-bye, and that just tore me up inside. He may be all grown up, but when I look at him I still see my little boy.

It's definitely different between a mother and son, that is true! We are planning to be at the meet and greet that Thursday, and it's going to be so nice to meet everyone!

I feel exactly the same! My son just graduated and turned 18 June 3rd and left June 23rd...I needed more time with him! It was such a whirlwind! He was with us ALL of the time...we did everything together. I miss him terribly. I know EXACTLY what you are feeling! Hang in there...we can do this :)

Oh, it went by so fast, didn't it??? When my son got his ship date on April 16, I thought "Wow, that's two whole months away! Lots of time!" But before we knew it, he was getting in that van to leave the recruiters office. Oh my gosh, remembering that moment just kills me somewhat. I wanted to grab him and tell him 'nevermind! And nevermind to the Navy as well!' LOL! He looked so young when he was leaving! And it didn't help that I felt like I was throwing him to the wolves! LOL! He's my baby boy and he always will be...I don't care what anyone says, lol!
My son had graduated hs in 2014, and was undecided what he wanted to do. When he was in high school, he talked all the time about joining the military. But, once he graduated he kind of floundered a bit. He told me back in February that the idea of leaving for the military scared him and that's why he was so undecided. I think he just had a little bit more growing up to do, and that's fine. Everything happened so fast for you, Mcmom, and that must be rough. You are in my prayers!!! All of you are! And your 'babies'...

Hi Lawlady1963 , my son too left the same day as yours and I totally can relate to your feelings. I can't wait to see him in August. Will your son be grauating on the 7 th as well?? I have only received one letter and one phone call I missed. But he did talk to my mom so I got some info. It's still isn't easy for me I miss him so much.

Hello Jenell! My sons' PIR is August 14, and I can't wait!!! So far, I have received four letters from him, and all on the same day, lol, this past Thursday. He called also, on July 5, and it was wonderful to finally hear his voice! He is doing good, and passing everything he is supposed to pass and I was very happy to hear that! My sons' rating is MA, what is your sons? My son will be going to A school in San Antonio. We are just counting down the days to PIR!
It is hard...I have my moments...but then I try to concentrate on all the positive happening in his life, and focusing on seeing him again at graduation. These 20 years with him...they just passed a lot faster than I thought they would...

I am so happy I found this forum let me tell you. I am still in shock and yet I can't believe I will soon be able to see him at PIR and boost my heart up to yet have it yanked away again so quickly. Aghhhh
I did get one letter short but so happyy to get it. still hoping for another call where I can hear his voice. He left a message and I keep replaying it over and over.
He is going to Pensacola to do his A school. He is doing RS and thinks he might switch later to do Seals. That I hope he chooses not to do only because I'm mom ha know. Scary.
You are right the years go by fast. I have 2 girls at home (1 and 6)to keep me busy Thank God because I would have gone batty.

Hi! This forum has been a godsend to me, as well. It helps to feel connected to others going thru the same emotions and whatnot, and it helps to feel connected to your recruit in the process.
What is RS? My son expressed an interest in Seals, and I just don't know how I feel about that...scared just like you. It is his choice, though. He seems to be really excelling and growing, and that makes me happy. If he's happy, then I am happy.
You still have young ones at home! My goodness, I bet they keep you busy! My youngest are 15 year old twin girls...and they sure keep me on my toes, lol!
Well, I'm going to get off here and head to bed...I'm not as young as I used to be, lol! Take care!
