DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good Morning!  Happy 4th to all!  Prayers and thoughts for our troops and those who paid the price to protect our freedom!

HAA, Yella Horse Gal!  Yes, they prefer not to have people in jeans in the VIP section....but you will see lots of jeans in the other sections!  We suggest Business Casual.....somewhere in between fancy dress and beach attire!  And, yes, you will see both fancy dress and beach attire there, most likely.  We did. Your sailors will be in their finest....so keep that in mind, but it is important to be comfortable too.  There is bleacher seating and a good amount of walking on PIR day.   I attended my son's PIR during winter 2010 so wore nice black jeans, nice sweater, with coat and boots.  You will see a little bit of everything re: clothing at PIR!

I'm wondering what is appropriate to wear to graduation? I know I've seen if you "dress up", you may be able to get into VIP seating... my husbands dress up is newer Wranglers, button down shirt, boots & hat. So I think VIP seating is out for us!

proudmom:  It is up to you how you decorate your door if you want to.  It is to honor your new sailors so you can be creative!

Good Morning All !

I have heard of families decorating their hotel room door. Is anyone planning on doing that? And what would you put on it?
