Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 273 and 274

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important

Every single concern is genuine

Every single member is important to us

We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Got our first letter today! I'm so excited to hear from my baby. I've been praying this would come soon because I was about to go out my mind waiting! He says it's not been too bad (there has indeed been yelling). I'll keep praying for God's favor upon all our loved ones in Div 273 and for a patient and understanding RDC. God will do it - all we must do is ask and have faith. Our son said he was doing fine. Their days are long. He's optimistic of the division as he says he sees alot of them that he will become friends with. He is a caring and compassionate individual. I hope you all hear from your sons this weekend as well. Be safe and enjoy your holiday!

When I got our son's letter, I was not expecting one so soon, so I was extra excited! I enjoyed his humor and uplifting attitude.  There wasn't anything negative about his group or experience, which was so comforting.  He is in Div 273, so I am enjoying all the comments from 273 moms..it seems they are much closer this way!! I am praying for my son, but also including the entire Div 273 and 274, as they work together as a team!!  HOOYAH!

Hooyah! Happy Dance! We got a letter. He sounded really good.
Tmansmom, my SR also sounded optimistic about the division. Sound like they have a great group.
We got to have a social call with our SR last night!! He says 274 is talky bunch, but he's getting enough to eat, keeping up with the PT, and doing well :-)
We just got a call from our future sailor (273)! He sounded wonderful and in good spirits! I had been sitting and waiting, scared to move bc I didn't want to miss his call. He was stronger than I thought he'd be. Reassured me that he was fine and not to worry. He told his Dad he'd be calling home phone back immediately and not to pick up. He left us a keepsake message when we needed to hear his voice. I love him so! I was really missing him today, feeling really down. How I needed to hear his voice. Hope you all get calls this weekend! Happy 4th and be blessed!
We missed our call. :-( I am so broken hearted. I have been watching my phone like a hawk. For about 30 mins we were in a dead zone and of course he called us then.
Happy everyone else received a call. Happy 4th.

I was never so excited to hear somones voice on the phone in my life!!!!!  Just to hear the I am ok mom tone in his voice made it better.  It did not make me miss him any less but it made it easier to deal with.  I can not wait to meet all of you at the meet and greet/p>

Hello all! I am beginning to love Thursday's. I got another letter from my son today. He says everything is still going well. That was so wonderful to know that he is hanging in there. He misses us and is anxiously waiting see us at graduation. He wants more mail from family. The only distress I felt was who would attend the PIR as his invited guests. We have a younger son and all of his grandparents are living and lots of family that love and miss him. He said he would not be selecting a 4th person but we could if we wanted to then inform him. I love that he is wanting to spare hurt feelings of loved ones not being personally invited. He has always been caring and considerate of others' feelings. I had already assured him that my parents are okay with not coming as they travel everywhere together and understand the situation. I plan to write him again to reassure that his graduation is his day and I don't want him to be stressed about this as he needs to focus on training. We have to keep him uplifted and encouraged. If others wish to travel there, they can and watch ceremony from their hotel rooms. I know this is tearing him apart. Other than that, I feel like he is doing okay.

Hope everyone hears from their recruit soon. I will continue to pray for all our sons and daughters in training at Great Lakes, especially those in Division 273 & 274. Take care!

Hi Tmansmom,  We had the same conversation with our SR.  We have 11 people driving to the Great Lakes for the graduation (Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc)  We all miss him and want to see him.  Our son didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so asked us to work out among ourselves who goes to the PIR. So far, everyone is offering to give up the space to another.  I think we are all so happy to be seeing him, anything is good.

Just as an FYI...My girlfriend's son graduated last year.  She stayed at the Marriot.  She said they set up a projector in the lobby for the people who couldn't attend the PIR.  Her family really enjoyed it, because they felt they were able to share the moment with others, just like being there.  We are staying at the Holiday Inn, and I'm hoping they do something similar.

Division 273 Moms, can you tell what week number and day our sons are on?
