N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Diverdee90 I found some information through the Facebook group for their PIR date. It appears that ship and division are for injuries, medical holds, and the FIT program. I'be been scrambling for information and the ever elusive confirmation of fact vs. idea all day. No news. No form letter. Nothing.

NavyMomLiz that is the same ship my son is in, how do you know he is on medical hold?

How can I find out if my son has been placed on a medical hold? He is ship 4 division 282m, and I'm hearing that means he's hurt or on medical hold. Someone please, help me to understand what's going on.

Sarge has not posted the link to this PIR group's MeetandGreet yet, but here is a link to the group before you.  Do NOT RSVP on this one since it is not your group, but you can read the info.  Keep checking the EVENTS section, to the left and below, to see when Sarge posts the link for your group---you can RSVP then:

TXNavyWife:  The MeetandGreet is put on by Sarge for all families/friends with sailors graduating the next day.  It is great to attend if you can....I will post the link above with the info in a moment.  Its nice to meet others in your group and get Sarge's info re: PIR, not to mention eating good food that he provides!

Most likely, your new sailor will be bussed late Fri night to the airport to wait for Sat. flights.....most fly out on Sat., but occasionally they do not until Sunday, so we suggest that all book their returns on Sunday if they can, just in case.  You will have Fri after PIR with your sailor until about 8 or 9 that night when your sailor returns to RTC.  Then you can meet your sailor at the airport.  Be sure to get airport/flight info from your sailor after PIR.  They fly out of two airports....Midway and Ohare.  They won't know their flights until shortly before PIR.

Tm:  Some get challenge coins for their sailors as graduation gifts.  Go to www.pirgifts.com to see the coins.  Get the one that is your sailor's ship name at Bootcamp.  Some take their sailors shopping after PIR and let them select something.  You can trade this gift off to them at the airport.  Make sure it is small enough to fit into their Navy baggage....they will have a large seabag (packed full!), a garment bag (uniforms), and a backpack.  If they select something too large as a gift, you can mail it to them once they arrive at A School.  Or....give them a giftcard that they can use after arriving at A School once they phase up and can leave base (takes a few weeks).  Some even buy a NEX gift card so they can use it at the NEX on their A School base.  Lots of possibilities!

Good Morning All !

I know this is early but I was looking at some of the info on PIR and it mentioned graduation gifts.  Because my SR will be going onto training out of state,  I was concerned about what I could get him that he could take with him.  Any ideas?

What exactly is the meet and great? I was just planning on being there for graduation that morning. Now I'm reconsidering. Also! Does anyone know if they get more than that one day off? My hubby is going to go to A-School in Pensecola...

thanks ellen0502...thats a little reassuring.

jbf2006, Ship staff/honor guard are also "body snatchers", they guard doors, help those requiring assistance etc, not all are behind scenes. You might even be one to see your Sailor before PIR even starts.
