My son went to medical for stomach issues and somehow that turned into him being diagnosed with ADHD.  He says they gave him a code of 2311.  Does that mean he can try again or is this a permanent disqualifier?

My son made the call that he is in Ship 5.  Don't know much more information.  He had adolescent depression.  He hasn't been on medication for over five years and doesn't need it.  He had been diagnosed with ADHD but he has overcome all his difficulties.  The Navy is what he dreamed of and now all that is upside down.  Waiting to hear if he can re-enlist.  I just don't get it.  When you have a 21 year old who has his head on straight and is hard working, isn't that what matters.  Trying to stay strong for the sake of my son.  I feel  your pain and will pray for you.

I have heard back from my son.  He's not too happy being in Ship 5 and says they told him it would be 20-30 days before he could be sent home.  he signed a waiver that allowed me to talk to someone.  I called and was told he had a reinlist code of RE-3E.  I have looked it up and he can try again with a waiver.  Not sure if he wants to or not.  Hope your boy is okay.  Stay strong Mom!!!

Thank you for your kind words.  I haven't heard from my son since Tuesday.  I am trying to think that no news is good news.  They are both there together and I hope that my son does get a good re-enlistment code.  Of course, who knows what he wants to do after all this, as you said.  You too stay strong.  It is amazing that this is happening my son had some issues when he was a freshman in high school.  That was 7 years ago and it was an adolescent problem.  He is now an adult. I am praying so hard for all those in Ship 5 that they will be guided correctly.

I haven't heard from my son since Tuesday.  Don't know what is happening.  They can sign a waiver giving you permission to talk to the administrator's office, but apparently my son has not done that.  Don't know what his status is and trying to make sense of all this.  Feeling so devastated and sad, but he sounded good on the phone and told me that we would figure it out.  Praying for all of us who are in this situation.

I'm helping my son get through this right now and am appalled at the system RTC has in place for these recruits. I have been on the phone for 3 days straight fighting for my son's case. They have one objective - send the recruit home as opposed to spend the time to evaluate and issue a waiver if applicable. The legal dept lied to my son and forced him into waiving his right to appeal his case. I was able to get them to reverse it but I had to put up a fight.
I am so angry about the hell this is putting all of us through but especially the strain on my son. Please update me on your son's situation

I spoke to my son and it stemmed from his high school records.  I told him to fight for what he wants and he said the more noise you make they will then put your case on the bottom of the list.  Don't know where he got that from.  Waiting for another call. He seemed to think that he might be released next week.  It is truly like being in prison for something that they could work out there rather than send them home. Anxious to hear more as to what is happening.

My son called with a departure date of Monday.

It really is so very frustrating.  I honestly believe the military is just overmanned and the recruiters are taking in too many for the positions that are open.  Any little reason causes a recruit to be sent home. It's just so heartbreaking for all those involved.

That's a shame. If it wasn't too late i could have given you some advice that has moved mountains for my son

Jennifer,

My son is on Ship 5 and I have told him to appeal the decision. I would love the advice you have to move mountains in this process. Please let  me know. Thank you.

I will call you tomorrow for sure.  Just saw your post.  Haven't heard from my son since Sunday.  Don't know what is happening.

Hello all,

So sorry our SR are going through this process. My husband graduated BC on May 22, and was sent to Seps 3 days after for a RE 8 on Hypothyroid. He is also NUKE, he decided to appeal, and has been there for 5 weeks already, without any further info on his case. He is doing as best as can be in Ship 5.
