I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

Quick question if anyone could help me out! So my now husband and I were able to get married while he was on leave, he was told that when he reported to Virginia he needed to bring a copy of my ID, social security card, birth certificate, and our marriage certificate. I was just curious if he could just take copies of my ID/S.S. the way they are now (still have my maiden name on them) or does it have to be copies with my name changed?

Hi everyone .. Can someone help me with figuring out the first step my husband needs to take when he gets his PCS orders? Mostly in regards to applying for housing. If someone is familiar with signing children up for school and daycare too.. We are moving to Lemoore

Hey heather. My husband set his up on PIR day at the airport so to my knowledge it isn't until they have Internet access. I don't know if it's changed in a year but that what I have so far. Hope that helps :)

Hi,

We got my SR first paycheck this past pay day, and I was wondering when during boot camp do they set up their LES to see their statements? I asked him when he called on June 28th (four days before) and he had no idea what I was talking about. He knows to forward me the information, but its important to know. Any help! Thanks :)

Comment by Anti M on July 2, 2015 at 6:18pm

Yeah, that happens sometimes.  On the bright side, they may be able to make calls this weekend, you never know.

For anyone with an SR there in November, this program applies for Thanksgiving too.  But it has to be a family member who adopts them, which sucks for not yet married couples.

Comment by Anti M on July 2, 2015 at 5:48pm

I haven't seen anything posted about it.  If some are eligible for the adopt a sailor program, that would have been announced a while back, as there are forms to be filled out and screened.  Where did you hear it?

I wouldn't be surprised if the divisions closer to graduation got to go with an approved church group though.

Hello, my wife left for deployment on May 18th. It's been pretty tough to deal with as you can imagine. Just looking for any advice to help me get through this. Or maybe someone who is going through the same thing to talk to.

My husband arrived on March 24 and got his first paycheck April 15 and it DID include BAH. We never saw a huge decrease for uniforms or anything. I think they get half of their yearly uniform allowance up front and the other half at their year anniversary, and then every year following.

Comment by Anti M on June 25, 2015 at 10:34am

BAH takes a few pay cycles to show up, highly unusual to see it in that first check.  Also, a lot depends on how many in processing days they had, and whether the paperwork for dependents was done properly.  Second or third payday would be normal.

They don't pay for their uniforms.  An allowance goes in, then is taken out.  However, they do pay for their PT gear, running shoes, underthings, towels, ditty bag, toiletries, and even that haircut.  It adds up!   Plus their pay is taxed, federal taxes for sure, and maybe state tax (some states really, really suck about that).

Comment by Brittany on June 25, 2015 at 10:11am
BAH is already factored in, it's just that they take out so much for uniforms, like $1600 total I think? Possibly more. Plus money for pictures and anything else they need.
But ours was always roughly $500 short I think. My wife's didn't level out to what it should be till her 1st paycheck out of bootcamp! (She graduated on a 1st of the month)
