Hi MI Moms! Life has been so crazy I didn't realize I hadn't been here for a bit. We got the box from boot camp right when it was supposed to come. The dogs about dove into the box when I opened it looking for their girl! It was so cute!

We got the form letter last Friday and you'd better believe I've been putting a letter in every day! :-). We got our first real letter Thursday. She is trying to write some every day. She sounded pretty upbeat but tired. Wanted me to ask everyone to write. So so far so good...PIR is 9/18.

My husband and I are giving our new camper its inaugural run this weekend up in Buckley near Traverse City. Good thing this was to try out the camper.... It has rained the entire time and our dogs little guys that they are are quite vocal about not liking people so close. So needless to say we are spending most of our time trying the camper out! It's also our daughter's birthday today so at least we aren't sitting at home missing her.... Hoping for a first phone call today. There are rumors of calls being made today...trying not to get my hopes up but all of you know how that goes!

Hope all of you have a great day!!

Good update , Ruth, glad you're enjoying your son's family. I am in MN through the weekend with some Navy moms. When I get back I would like to go to Maine to help the kids move and see the Grands. They are moving from a very small apt to a house.

Thanks for mentioning Pets for Vets, Julyasmom. I have a friend whose son is struggling with ptsd and this might be a help to him. Good luck to your daughter!

I'm enjoying this beautiful weather this week and tried not to complain about those two HOT days we had. Summer is wonderful! Just got back from a trip to the Sleeping Bear Dunes area with my Navy mom friend from AZ. She has been my guest this summer - she has Lupus and Michigan summers are much kinder to her than AZ summers.

Hi Ladies! Hope everyone had a great weekend! We spent the weekend getting used to our new little doggie. The shelter has a Pets for Vets program and the adoption fee was covered.

Daughter's last DEP meeting is tomorrow. Time is really flying!

Kalamazoo sounds great. Any suggestions, Seabeemom?

Hello NavyMomE57!  I am from the Coldwater area and have a son who is a Seabee.  I'm hoping we can do a get together sometime in the near future, maybe in the KZ area?  Welcome to the group!

Welcome NavyMomE57. Thanks for the perspective from a former Navy wife. We all find this journey hard at times, and frustrating when leaves are cancelled or orders delayed. My son has been waiting since spring to get new orders :-)

Hello.  I am from the Big Rapids area.  My daughter has been in since July 2012.  I am a former Navy Wife but find being a Navy Mom is a lot harder that expected.  The picture is from last year when she was home on leave :) I think it would be nice to try to get a group of us together to meet.

Colleen, it's good to hear your update and that the family had a great time in DC.
Great trip, Kathy B.
