Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My daughter leaves two weeks from today and my heart is heavy. Love and prayers to all that is sturggling with letting go. =)

We are going to miss our daughter terribly, too. In an earlier post I noted it's not at all the same as a kid going off to college. Most college kids go and return home every few weekends, come home all summer, etc. A lot of them also end up slumming at home even after college graduation.
Our kids are actually leaving the nest- most for life. So, so incredibly proud but we all have a lot bigger hole in our lives when our kids leave for the service and to start their lives. They are amazing kids- all of them- for doing what they are doing. It takes a lot of guts to swim opposite of all the fishes yet the rewards are greater than just following along without a plan like most college-bound, un-weened kids I know. Hang in there.

That is exactly what I try to tell people that tell me that our children leaving is all part of life and the same for parents that have children leaving for college. Not even close to being the same! Thank you for reassuring me that I'm not being over dramatic. :-) My daughter and have done everything together. There has never been much time apart in her 18 years on earth. Being a single mom helped us create a bond like no other. Aside from my selfish heartache I'm beyond excited for her and bursting at the seems with pride

You are to be commended for raising a go getter like your daughter- I was raised by a single Mom, too and it's very tough to leave home. You've made your daughter strong by example- it will serve her well!

I can relate so well. Our son is leaving July 14th. I am keeping busy for his party Friday night. I have boughts of feeling overwhelmingly proud, then boughts of sheer terror and of course a heavy heart that it nearly hurts!!! I agree, our kids have made a courageous decision and this website has helped me so much by shared Mom's experiences. The best advice so far, has been DON"T MISS THEM NOW. Enjoy every minute we have with him, and laugh, talk, advise, and prepare as best you can. When I begin to cry, I remember that there are just a couple of weeks to go!!! Then I snap myself back in and plan another family thing.... even if it's dinner together!! We will all get through this, and I am so thankful to God that this website exists. It has calmed me down a number of times, then I say my prayers!!!!!! Thoughts with you, as I am feeling exactly the same. Best!

DON'T MISS THEM NOW....wow!!!! That really is the best advice, even if it's easier said than done. Thank you for sharing that. Plus I don't want her to worry about me while she's starting her new adventure. Yes, our kids have made courageous decisions, but we parents raised bold and selfless kids! Yay, us!! ;-)

My son is also leaving July 14th from NJ. I have such mixed emotions since he made this decision over 10 years ago to join the NAVY. He came to me at 8 years old and said I am going to be a sailor and never wavered from his plan. I never thought this last two weeks would be so emotional. I keep trying to stay strong but I feel so weak at the stupidest things. I am so glad to have found N4M website.

kvonavymom, I know how you feel. My son is leaving from CT on July 14th as well, maybe our sons will be together somehow. I am feeling the same way. Going away party was Friday night and friends came from far and wide to suprise him!!! It was awesome. Today, the tent is gone and the clock starts tickin. I suddenly become very overwhelmed with emotion at almost nothing. He's training like crazy. We are praying all will be well for him. He is my youngest, and we will be empty nesters after that. As proud as we are of him, we are equally overwhelmed with longing. Keep remembering best advice on this site, was DON'T MISS HIM NOW!!! enjoy every single moment left and pray for Gods grace to fill the spot that is already longing!!! Good Luck to both of us!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with you, your daughter and your family. I will be dropping my daughter in 2 days and it feels like the elephant sitting on my heart is getting heavier and the sting in my heart seems to be more painful. Peace and comfort to you & yours!!

I'm right there with A11rightythen! Our son is swearing in about 7 or so hours from now and I can't sleep! We had a nice dinner with him and he was really tired. My mom and I dropped him off at his hotel early so I'm praying he fell asleep early. I told him to drink lots of water and SLEEP. My mom and I will watch him swear in and then he will be off to start his new journey. Lots of emotions... But very proud! Hang in there!

A11rightythen....what will your daughter's job be? My daughter is going to Pensacola as well. Her job will be aviation structural mechanics. They'll both be one day apart as I'm dropping her off at the recruiting office today, w/swear in tomorrow.

Hello A11rightythen! I would have been able to stay at the recruiter's office, but I had to go to work. I did go to the hotel after work and have dinner with my daughter and walked her up to her room before lights out. Yesterday, we had our swearing in and it went fast, but we had 30 minutes to take pictures and sit with her before she left. It was amazing and a great transition for me. If we would have been rushed through the good by process I probably wouldn't have held my composure very well. A few little things happened at the hotel and after the swearing in that I know were a sign from God that this is exactly what my daughter is meant to do and that He is with her every step of the way.
Like you, I fell asleep praying for her and a couple other recruites she left with and their families and woke up praying for her. I was so tired this morning and thought about how my daughter must be feeling and that inspired me to jump out of bed and get going.
