For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by Jatjo on July 8, 2015 at 4:31pm: Tysmom- oh my gosh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to freak you out! When he was explaining it to be he didn't tell me it was fake until the end. When my brother was in boot camp about 2 years ago they pulled a prank on their division too. The RDC put food in the RPOC's rack and you're not supposed to bring food outside of the galley. They told the whole division that they were getting ASMOED which means sent back to the beginning of boot camp. They didn't tell them they were joking until all of their stuff was packed into their seabags. So then they had to unpack everything. Sometimes the RDC's can be pretty cruel. Lol

Comment by Jatjo on July 8, 2015 at 4:19pm: Jeanine- My SR that's in bootcamp is my boyfriend. Lol it's okay though. I can't imagine how they felt afterwards. Relieved? Mad? Upset? It's a pretty scary prank to pull on SR's who are already stressed out to the maximum.

Comment by Jeanine on July 8, 2015 at 3:35pm: Jatjo, that is awesome that your son was able to call and did perfect on the chain of command! OMG on the letter though. How scary for them. I wonder if they wanted them to say, I need more training, or wanted them to say they could go?

Comment by Jatjo on July 8, 2015 at 3:15pm: Got a 10 minute phone call from my SR today! He recited the Chain of Command perfectly so they let him call. It was a nice surprise. He is Ship 12 Div 260. He told me that they are getting ITE today because they got a hit. I guess one of the guys in his section didn't have his rack perfect.

He also told me that the RDC brought in a letter from the President. It said that North Korea had declared war on the United States and any SR that is passed week 3 of training will graduate this Friday and be deployed immediately. He told me that they gave a choice for those who did and did not want to go. He said at least 60% of the SR's in his division opted to leave. While the other 40% decided to stay (which included himself). He said everyone was freaking out and was so emotional. They had this going for awhile until they told them that the letter was fake. I cannot imagine the stress that they were feeling.
