OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

This is what I found on Navy Dads page, posted about a year ago.....The care package consists of a commemorative coin, a commemorative t-shirt, a movie pass (Ross Theater), a coupon book to local mall ($750 in savings), an pre-paid phone card (to call home), a homemade cookie, a candy bar and a personalize message to let your recruit know you are thinking of them on this proud day. All of this is nicely packaged in a gift box with the RTC Command Seal and your personalized message!

*post the number in YOUR group....

Yes, lovey.  Sarge will post your group for the MeetandGreet soon.  Keep checking in the EVENTS section, to the left and below.  You can then post the number in the group in the comments section so he knows how to plan the dinner for you all!

Your SRs will usually be able to write their first personal letters to you about 2 weeks after arrival.  So keep watching the mail!  Normally they get to write these on a Sunday, mailed on Monday.  Then they will receive mail M-F after that but can only mail out to you on Mondays.

When will real letters come from our sales?!

Comment by Kelley on July 7, 2015 at 9:51am

I'm waiting for a flight and seeing all these young military men walking around and I'm on the verge of tears missing my SR. God, please let these 6-weeks go by fast!!!
