Hello ladies!  Sorry I haven't checked in lately but I've been keeping an eye on all of you LOL  Love all the pics...those babies are the cutest ever and the wedding photos/video were just beautiful!  Life has been busy for me, nothing spectacular though, just day to day hectic.  Have been working on organizing a family reunion (my dad's side) it's less than two weeks away and is a two day event.  Me & hubby are in charge of food on day 1 - frying fish for a couple hundred people.  Getting excited though got relatives coming in from all over.  Haven't had a reunion on this side of family in years.

Got woke up early this morning with a phone call and it was sailor on other end....nice surprise wasn't expecting a call till they pull into port.  He got his paper orders (nothing's changed) but now he has a date to report to school and if all works out he might be home for Christmas!  This will be the first time since joining the Navy - first year he was in boot camp and the last 3 he's been in Japan. Keeping my fingers crossed...toes too!!!

Take care everyone...you're always in my prayers

and Happy Belated Birthday Kim!  Hope you're still celebrating!

HI

I only see a beautiful lady. Isn't that spot called a soft spot for tatoos? Looks ouch, but glad you are happy with it :). Good - more healing energy coming :).

Kim - remember - your birthday is 7 days of celebrating . Love your grandson's eyes. So wise. But what's with the bowl?

About my tooth. Everyone take a breath. Dentist office called on my 38th wedding  anniversary ( July 30,2015) He was reviewing the x-ray. He does NOT like how one canal DID NOT fill to the bottom with concrete. I HAVE to go back on August 7th at 1 pm for the root canal process allover to refill the one canal. My jaw hurts so now. I am asking for knock out meds after.

But then on Saturday the 8th is teh funeral for the ScoutReach director. His battle with cancer he lost. This will be an official BSA Funeral - dress uniforms, flags, and honor guard .

THEN right after funeral - the neighborhood church is hosting a pig roast. They only ask the neighbor hood to bring items for those in need. They provided a list. Teh thing that caught my attention. My son stated they have a nursery/day care.

Thinking what I am thinking? You bet - maybe - JUST MAYBE - Riker could go there. And it is only 2 blocks away from teh home. I might get to go back to work. Keep you posted.

Ok Ih ave to get - today is Semi-Annual charter Member meeting for gun club. I am the secretary. When I get back home - I finish the afternoon with typing up minutes. Then I will meet with Jack ( Jack Daniels Black Label #7) should sleep well don't you think?

 hugs all

Blondie, I am sitting at work with headphones on and the tears are running down my face.  BTW, your boobs look great!

Welcome Sandralee.

I will let someone else explain the cell phones, but they will need a new cell phone over there. He can find help on base to understand the contracts and someone on here can discuss apps to download for free text, video, etc.  His U.S. carrier will suspend (without fees) his phone service here.  Someone may need to contact them every 18 months.

They cannot use their computers on ship.  There are computers for them to use and they will have an email account.  There may be lines for the computer unless he has access to one were he works (mine did)  What is his rate?  There are wifi spots on base to skype, but it might be a hike.  The USO has free phone calls to the USA.

What base is he going to?  The bases have U.S. banks and currency.  He will be in a foreign country when he steps off base.  My son used Navy Federal.  No fees on base, but fees in foreign countries.  I was there for work and only used a credit card.  I find credit cards safer than debit cards.

I suggest he get a credit card that does not charge a foreign transaction fee.  He needs to let debit/credit cards know that he is moving to Japan.  You should be listed on his account to speak for him, because they will want a U.S. number to call for fraud alerts (which will happen when visits foreign ports).

My son should have gotten a power of attorney and passport before he left.  Both have been needed.  Japan and deployment from San Diego.  Explain to him that there will be times that he cannot phone his bank, etc. He should speak to someone like his recruiting office or a base (if near) about preparing for a VERY long deployment.   It's call Forward Deployed.

Long Johns - It gets really cold were they sleep, even in the tropics.  Suggest he take them and explain why.  Then its on him.

Maggs, try pepper in the bird seed.

I'll talk to the rest of you soon.  Back to work.  My birthday is Friday and my sailor, wife and grandson are coming to visit Thur. - Saturday.  So excited!

Hi My son will be shipping out next week for Japan. So I have a few questions... How do you communicate with them while they are overseas? Cell phones, Skype and/ or computer ?And what time of bank account do they use? Can they use their ATM cards from a local bank here in the States and are they charged high fees?? Thanks so much
