Looking to connect with others who have kids starting boot camp July 28th. I have received my "I'm here call" and now am waiting for the "box" to arrive. Missing the nightly conversations with him.

My daughter started the same day! It was hard seeing her leave and she ended her "I'm safe" call with "I'll talk to you in 3 weeks". That was hard to hear, I miss my kid!

Navygirlsmom, remember that call "in 3 weeks" could come before or after that. See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

My son also started boot camp on the 28th. Since he left from Milwaukee I received the phone call about 1.5 hr after he left. His facebook is silent, no text messages asking for my advice..that's the hard part. Now I have 3 huge totes of clothes and other items in my house after cleaning out his apartment, geez he has alot of clothes! He said he took most of his clothes to the Goodwill..really..wow. I never realized how hard this is on a parent, my parents never said a thing when I left for boot camp many years ago. My mom told me she worried everyday..well so am I.

my niece and nephew both there… same day same boot camp Great lakes.. I miss them terribly as I know Mom does…. My sister got the "Im here call" … they are two awesome kids and I know they are amongst more awesome young men and women… I hope they all take care of each other

Hi, my daughter started boot camp on the 29th. I got a quick text, I can't call, we landed safe, I Love You, that evening ararond 7:30. She must have called her boyfriend when they were allowed to make a phone call, I called him Thursday. I hope her box comes tomorrow. All the best to everyone. This is an awesome experience for our daughters/sons and family.
My daughter started boot camp on Monday, July 27! I got 'the box' on Friday! I miss her soooo much!! I can't wait to hear her sweet little voice again!

My son started boot camp on the 28th.  I miss my son too. His dad is a truck driver so we would spend evenings talking or playing cards when he wasn't at work.  I am so proud of him for his choice to be in the Navy. I sure do miss hearing his voice when he'd get home.

Thank you so very much

My son left the 27th , I received the I am safe call around 1130 that night  and his box today. I cant wait to hear his voice again as I am having major separation anxiety.

My son left two weeks before his best buddy since middle school. His best buddy shipped out and is in BC starting 7/28!
My son is two weeks ahead, just letting y'all know the first three weeks have gone by quick!

my daughter left michigan on 7/27 ... does anyone know if they have time off before they go to "A" school or do they go straight there from boot camps .. thanks Amy

Amy, she will have Liberty on Friday and go straight to "A" School the next day if she is flying out. If she stays in GL, she will check in and have Daytime Liberty each day of the weekend. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Check your My Page and join the groups I left for you earlier.
