Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

*close not closet!

MrsG:  Keep calling back Navy Lodge....they get cancellations....just happened in today's PIR group when a SR got setback in training.  So don't check online, just keep calling back...in the meantime, book another hotel just in case....cancellation is usually no problem...suggestions are Courtyard, Springhill Suites, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express...call directly and ask for the Navy Graduation discount.  These are all closet to Sarge's MeetandGreet and 4-5 miles from RTC.

Friday #3 for my SR!
I only need to find affordable accommodations now. Navy Lodge is fully booked.

Thank you Lu! I pray healing upon you son, strong enough to re-enlist and make his dreams come through. Blessings to you and your family!

Blessings to your SR, Lu, and hoping for healing and possible re-enlistment at a later date!

Good Morning All !

My baby boy...:   Those attending GL A School move over there shortly after PIR as a group.  You will pick him up a few hours later at that base, which is close to RTC.  You will have daytime Liberty through the weekend with him, until about 8 or 9 pm each night when he returns to base.  So book your travel plans accordingly!

Thanks Lu, Thanks for your prayers and prayers for your sons safe return home.

Thank you for all the prayers, it looks like my son is headed home with his shoulder injury. Before I go, I want you all to know I'm praying for all of your SR's continued success in boot camp and their Navy careers after boot. I'm also praying for all the moms, wives, fiancés, and girlfriends for peace, strength, and joy.

If your SR is in the PACT program at Great Lakes, where do they go after PIR?

Comment by ellen0502 on July 30, 2015 at 9:03pm

Here is the story about posting pics of your recruits in BC. First is PERSEC, sharing personal information. The info on OPSEC and PERSEC is posted above with a link.

To add to that believe it or not the RDCs have been known to read these pages. Do you want the RDC to easily know who you are talking about on here, or see that picture?  A little "ammo" for BC can bring great joy to your recruits day. LOL

None of you are saying anything, or have said too much on this site to worry about, and if you accidentally do...we have ways to make it disappear pretty fast. :)

Comment by MrsG on July 30, 2015 at 7:12pm
It was suggested not to show pictures and use your SR's name, for security reasons.
