Good morning everyone! Haven't been here lately.
Congrats to PattiP and B's Nuke on your birthday and anniversary, loved the wedding pics!
CO-Twin, wish I was your new neighbor, those cookies look amazing!
8isenuff, how happy your nuke sweetheart looks!
Dawn Renee, welcome! All the info and support you need is here.
AParents, my son is currently onboard CVN72. He's a MM3. What I remember from MM A School, nothing compares. My son did AP everything and
college before the Navy, without much effort. None of it mattered when Nuke school started. He said it wasn't extremely hard is the ton of info you need to retain on a daily basis.
I don't have much communication with my sailor this days. He's extremely busy at work. The carrier is in overhaul but the nukes work only on the reactor. He's been taking tests to finally get qualified. I will be going to VA in September for his 22nd birthday.

Hi all - Happy Friday!

8isenuff - so glad to see you got your computer fixed (we've missed you here!) - nice to hear what's been going on with your ET & MM!!  Looks like your MM had a lot of fun with the ponies ;-)  and congrats to your non-sailor on the degree - quite an accomplishment.

Welcome Dawn Renee!

I am so glad that this group is here. My son just arrived to S.Carolina on the 25th so all of this is new to me. The information and input from you ladies is just such a huge help. Thanks again and have a great Friday!!

Thanks Mark. Can you or someone give us an overview of what is covered in MM A school. Is it pretty much equivalent to high school trig and pre cal and something like AP physics and chemistry or will it be harder than that, more on a major college level?. It's hard to find out much about it online.

Comment by Mark on July 31, 2015 at 10:44am

AParents - I took a quick look at that.  Based on the topics covered; if the site works properly, it's a great idea that should have been done years ago to give baby nucs a chance to better prepare.  The math and physics would be the first priority because those subjects come early in power school.  Chemistry and radiation come in second half.  I suspect they chose the four areas they did because the subject matter is the least specific to naval nuclear power.  They cover other topics in power school that, if given the same treatment as the four areas they selected, would give too much of a look at the curriculum.

Hi all, I have a serious friday question if someone would ask their Nuke. On the NNPTC website home page:
http://www.netc.navy.mil/nnptc/
There's a link called Study Material at the very bottom:
http://www.netc.navy.mil/nnptc/studymaterial.html
Which part of that material would be helpful for us to provide to our Sailor Recruit to look at prior to A school. Which part for PowerSchool, which part for Prototype. So she has a little bit of an idea of what she will be up against, curriculum wise before she get's to A school, and beyond. Her recruiter didn't mention any of that, not sure if any of it has been mentioned or covered during boot camp. Not sure how to use that material between now and the time she starts A school. Would it help if we sent her just alittle of it (which parts) of it to look over her last week in Boot Camp, her first week in Charleston during INDOC. And during her first weeks of A school.

Ooops.  Had no idea that was going to go down like that.  Not the tech person, obviously.  I deal with dust bunnies and children.  :-)

Hello everyone, it has been awhile since I have posted anything.  This group is busy!  I had a ton of things to catch up on.  My computer's hard drive decided to take a permanent nap.  Fortunately, I have a good "in" with a computer expert (one of our older kiddos) and he put me all back together.  I did have pretty much everything on an external hard drive, so that made his job much easier.  Whew!

Happy anniversary to you and hubby, B'sNukeMom.  :-)  That picture is so great.

PattiP, Happy birthday from the upper corner of our state!  :-)  Hope you had a good one.  And I am so sorry for the loss of your sister.

CO-Twin, your cookies look divine, as always.  Too bad CO is too far away for a day trip!  I love the name for your shop.  You are so clever!

I know there have been lots of others with sailors moving on and up in the pipeline.  Kudos to all of them.  These young men and women are truly amazing.

Our nukes' older sister graduated with a PharmD degree in May.  Pretty proud of her!  That happened to be a 4 day weekend for our MM, so she got special liberty permission to drive home and celebrate her sister's special day.  YAY!  I took as many hugs as I could get!  :-)

In June, we spent some time with the nukes in BS.  We had a great weekend!  The Saratoga Springs area is absolutely beautiful!  We went to a petting zoo, the Ballston Spa Balloon a Fair, Saratoga National Park, The National Horse Racing Hall of Fame, and of course the Saratoga Raceway (the harness track, thoroughbreds weren't racing yet).  To top that off, our second oldest son sneaked up for a visit, too, and surprised the heck out me!  Oh, he felt smug!   :-)So, I got 2 and 1/4 kid visits for the price of 1!  (The 1/4 kid was our ET, who was on days, lol).  I am one very lucky Momma!

Our ET surprised us with a visit home over the 4th of July.  It was an awesome surprise (these sailors like doing that, don't they?) and another good visit.  More hugs.  (Hey, I take them when I can get them, right?)

Last weekend, our MM came home once more.  We had another horse show, and she figured it will be her last one for awhile.  She wanted to play with kittens, and also pet horse noses.  I can't blame her.  Rumor has it that sea horses are not very trainable.  Nor do they have soft, velvety noses, lol
