For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by CJDA on August 1, 2015 at 1:07pm: Good morning everyone. I just received a call from my son. He's in Division 314. Although it was short and for his security clearance, it was amazing for me to just hear his voice and for him to let me know that he's doing fine. He also confirmed 9/18 for his PIR. This is my 2nd time around in this site, my daughter was in bootcamp 3 years ago and she's having the time of her life right now. Her brother is following his sister's footsteps. I thought it would be easier this time around, but it's not. Tears still comes down and all the mix emotions comes rushing through. Thank you so much for all the administrators and participants in this site... they have kept me somewhat sane the first time, and here I am again...I salute each and everyone of you for raising such wonderful kids. Take care and I hope everyone gets a phone call this weekend.

Here's the Navy Lodge 800 number. It is best to call them for reservations and keep calling even if they say they are booked up because cancellations do come in~~ Oh, and please book under your SR's name!

Comment by diannep on August 1, 2015 at 9:03am: Amanda is absolutely correct! I have been helping on this site now for 5.5 years, ever since my son graduated Bootcamp. You can't imagine how many have missed calls from their SRs when in the bathroom, stepping outside for a moment to get mail, etc....most times, the SR will not get to call back right away. So....although I know it is a great inconvenience at times, try and have your phone "on you" at all times....and have the vibrate feature enabled as well as the ring. Some even put the phone in their bra when they will be somewhere loud and are afraid they will miss the call. Calls on Sunday most likely would be after 1pm Central time because they can go to church, etc that morning. But all other days, calls can come at any time. When your SR calls you with a "need info" call, that means....don't ask me any questions other than maybe an.....everything ok? Because there is a staff member standing there with them...and they are told get the info and that is it. So just know this must be complied with...you don't want to get your SR in trouble! Also, if you find you missed a call, resist the urge to call it back! Although maybe now, some of the phones may not be able to receive incoming calls, not sure, in the past if someone called the number back, many times an RDC answered and when a person asked for their SR, uh oh! So if you miss the call, you miss the call.

Hoping for calls for many of you today!

For those wanting to stay at Navy Lodge, if you find it is booked, keep calling the hotel directly because they do get cancellations. Book a backup hotel just in case since many of the hotels book up quickly. Usually no problem cancelling a reservation up to day before or day of arrival.

Due to the comment below about phone calls I will post the following, but before you get too envious, it was work, not pleasure.

About 9:50p eastern time I received a phone call from 847, Waukegan. I am not going to even pretend; after reading the heartache of some you for your SR's needing to cut their time short for medical reasons I was nervous for mine. He said "I only have a minute" and must have sensed me holding my breath even while I was trying to be supportive and sound "normal". He chuckled and said "everything is fine and I am good, I need..."

And we proceeded to talk about how he had signed the kids up for insurance, but they need something from me copied and notarized and mailed to them. (Which I will take care of this AM.)

I did tell him he sounded so good (he really did!) and asked if he was okay and he said yes. I could imagine him smiling. It warmed my heart to hear him sound so alert, upbeat, and happy.

Moral of this post...listen to the advise of the people that have walked in our path already...Have your phone by you and Answer! :)
