Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

my brother wrote 4 names . . So we're assuming we can go with 4 people ?!
Comment by ellen0502 on August 1, 2015 at 4:04pm

We don't know yet for sure SoCalmom. I am guessing there will be four from the number, or lack there of, people reporting on their recruits arriving.

Last training group was very large so my guess is under twelve divisions, which means four guests. It is only a guess at this point.

Do we know if we can have 3 or 4 people attend the ceremony? I have read SO much stuff in the past week it is all running together. So forgive me if it's right in front of my face! LOL

diannep....Right!!

You are very welcome Judyasmom.  When my son was up there, I missed a call while at the gym.  No message which was strange (turns out that they cannot leave messages for the "need info" supervised calls, but usually do leave messages if it is a personal call)...I kept waiting for him to call back, he didn't.  I googled the number...it was the RTC Medical Center.  Uh oh.....really worried then.  He didn't call until a week later, on a personal division call.  When I asked him why he had called, turns out there was a question with his medical record, but he resolved it without my help.  Wheeewww.....that was a hard week waiting to hear back from him!

Also, if they are delayed in training for any reason, they will call you (yes, I got one of those calls too!).    Short and sweet call, supervised call....of course, I had my airline tickets (he had been at Bootcamp by that time for 4 weeks) ....didn't know about Southwest Airlines then...no change fee!  UGH! So I had to pay the change fees.  He told me he would be delayed 2 weeks and gave me that PIR date---short call, leaving me with lots of questions.  Thank goodness I didn't change my tickets after that first call because he called a week later and was back to training, in a group just one week behind his original one, not 2 was originally told.  Lots of drama in Bootcamp!  :-)  He graduated fine and was a sailor, so that is all that matters, right?  :-)

Welcome back, CJDA!

Here is the Navy Lodge Great Lakes direct number.  I'm assuming the front desk number.  It may be better to call this one to keep checking on cancellations:
