Mineman Moms

My son arrived at RTC on 11/15/11.  His current contract has him as a Mineman and I am looking to see if there are any other Mineman Moms out there that have sons/daughters who are going in or have just arrived!  Mineman is such a small community that it is hard to gather information about the rate, and would like to hear stories or talk about what our children are doing!

Hello! I've been reading all the comments and I see that someone said school is not in tx? But in Cali? What's up with the false information?

My husband is no longer in the service but when he was he was also a mineman. Right after boot camp he stayed in great lakes for ATT school and then once that was completed he went to San Diego for A school.

Hopefully this helps

Well Michelle. The thing about the Navy is that they have to wait for classes to "fill up" before they start. So this means lots of hold time. My son was pretty lucky. He only had to wait a week for Att to start and then went to San Diego. When he got there he had to do other schools first before his mineman class. Then he had c school too so it took from dec 2013 bootcamp til dec 2014 to leave for Bahrain. He took leave to come home to NY en route to overseas in late November.

Are you from the San Diego area?

Hi Shelly . Thanks for the info. He heads to basic in August , so still always away, but time goes quickly. :) how is your son liking Bahrain? Is the A school training in San Diego really only 13 weeks after ATT in GL?
Comment by shelly on May 1, 2015 at 4:36pm
Hi Michelle 0120 minemen only mainly go to three places Bahrain, Japan or San Diego. My son chose Bahrain but chances are probably good that yours could get San Diego. Where is your son now? Mineman school is not in Ingleside if that's what they told you, he will go to San Diego for training.

Hello. My son will be going to A school for mineman training. Does anybody know what bases he would be able to choose from, depending of course how he does in school, after he finishes school? Are they all out of the country ? Is there ever a choice for San Diego ?
