N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hello everyone, this is my first post.
I got my first letter yesterday evening.
I was so excited to see the letter but also to see my daughters handwriting. I've never gone this long without speaking to her. I know she's in the best hands though.
I'm starting to look at hotels for graduation. We have a new puppy that my daughter wants us to bring with us. Any suggestions for hotels that are pet friendly?

We got our form letter yesterday. I am so excited to at least touch something my son just touched. Looking forward to PIR 9/18 DIV 310. Booked room at Days Inn 3 miles from base they said and they have a shuttle to PIR. I'm so excited can't wait. We are spending a week here so we can make a nice vacation for our younger son who is joining Navy next year.

Also, for those who do not want to rent a car, it is probably cheaper to use Sarge's shuttle service.  He puts on the MeetandGreet for you the night before PIR.  You can find more info about him under the MEMBERS tab above.  Put in Old Sarge to go to his page.  You can contact him from there.

No military ID required for Navy Lodge during PIR weekend.  You stay as a guest of your SR and book in his/her name.  If you have your own military ID, you can use that!

westgate:  It is more economical to rent a car.  You should be able to find a deal!  If flying Southwest, I believe that they offer a car discount code, but also search the internet for offers!

Okay, thank you tbird96!

Yes I am not in the military. From what I can gather it is for military and/ or their families. However, I am new to this all this. They did ask for my SR name and the confirmation email for the booked dates is under my name and my son. His listed first. So it is booked based on the recruit. Its off base by 1.5 miles.
Comment by SailorW'sWife on August 1, 2015 at 9:36pm

So for the Navy Lodge in Great Lakes, they allow you to book without actually being in the military. I'm a spouse so I'll have a military I.D. Is that required?

Comment by westgate01! on August 1, 2015 at 9:34pm

Ladies is it better to rent a car or use the Elite taxi and shuttle service?  does anyone know if the restraunts are relatively close?

Comment by tbird96 on August 1, 2015 at 7:39pm
"There are spots still available at the Navy Lodge. I just booked mine. Thank you for the number. Wanted to make sure I did it right and called soon enough. I called the 800 number.
