N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

We got a call Saturday morning from DIV 290.  Our recruit said that they earned an academic flag.  he sounds really good.  He sais they have lost some folks but that they seem to be getting it together.  he sais they are gearing up for week 4 (hell week).  their group must be doing good because we have already received more calls than we expected.

Anyone get a call this weekend from ship 12 div 293?
Comment by missymom297 on August 2, 2015 at 12:41pm

got call from DIV  297 daughter yesterday, and she sounded wonderful. loving it.

Tina, prayers for your son.  it is supposed to get less stressful, i have read on here... lets hope he can find a way to feel more positive... and i agree, hope his shipmates help him!!!!

Comment by diannep on August 2, 2015 at 10:45am

By the way, Tina, he can request to talk to the Chaplain if he feels that talking things out would help him.  But I bet he will get through this...hopefully some of his shipmates will jump in and encourage him.

Tina:  I'm so sorry you got a letter like that, but it is still pretty early on in Bootcamp for him---and letters like that are actually pretty common at this point.  There are lots of threatening comments from the RDCs at this point...."the whole division will be held back if you don't start working together (not true---just individuals are held back), etc:."  Just keep writing him encouraging uplifting letters, reinforcing that you KNOW he can do this.  And you know he will!  Remind him that A School is a whole different scenario....better.....not so strict, more encouraging---back in contact with family.  Remind him that he has only a month before he is out of there---as a sailor!  I'm hoping that the next letter or phone call is more encouraging!

Good Morning All !
