Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

Hi all.. my son just went through PIR last Friday and is in GL now for his school/training. He will be in SD sometime in late September. He said he will be on the USS Comstock. From what I am reading it seems like he will probably be on barge until a barrack comes up. I mentioned this to him but he doesn't seem concerned, not as much as I am. haha His stay in GL to a barge will be a big shock difference for sure. GL is nice. But I am sure he will be fine. I was so proud of him and he seems very excited about his future with the Navy. I was impressed with all he has learned about navigating his way through the E-PACT program.

Pennys. My son graduated from GL school afer boot camp on July 8, the flew home to GA on July 10, he was home for 10 days. He had to be in VA by the 21st of July, he could have driven his car(but its in the shop). Your grandaughter should have a mentor (on her ship), they somtimes can help and meet her once she gets there. My son's just dropped him off at his rack and he had to figure most everthing out on his own. This is his second week in VA, he was in shock the 1st week and very depressed but he is finding his way and some friends and he is doing so much better!! I think he was prepared for bootcamp but not for barge living, that takes a lot to get used to. Good Luck to your sailor.

I will, and thank you. She told me she was going to find out, I was trying to get more information so I would know if she was going to get her hopes up and not be able to, I am actually her grandmother, but I raised her and her mother lives in Virginia Beach so it is going to be nice for them to be so close together, I am very excited for them both....

Hello everyone, first off I'd like to thank everyone on this site, I have read quite a few comments that have answered many of my questions before I have to ask, I do have a few now and  hoping someone can answer them, My daughter is officially in GL Training School now, (Monday) she is in the SPACT, she did receive her orders and she will be graduating school on the 19th which is on a Wednesday, will she get to come home that day or wait till the weekend, I believe its something like 10-12 days she comes home for, she will be stationed in Norfolk VA, on the 2nd or 3rd of September, can she drive there? Or what is the actual procedure for this?

Thanks Dilian- My son heard the waiting list to get into the barracks is 2 months. I think most- if not married start out on a barge if their ship is dry docked.

I have a question?? Does anyone know if the pay is more once your out of school and working on a ship? My son's check this time is more and he is confused. Thanks ladies!

I am sort of confused. When my son's ship is in dry dock, will he still live on the ship or will he live on a barge?
