Anti M,

One more question :)  They don't learn their specific system until C school? A school builds the foundation?

Comment by Lauren on August 2, 2015 at 10:45pm

Thank you Anti M!  How do they pick for him? does it depend on what they need? Is there anything he can do that may help get what he wants?

Thanks for the explanation...."as in firing weapons"...makes sense now!!

Comment by Anti M on August 1, 2015 at 11:22pm

They do pick for him during boot camp.

FC is fire controlman, as in firing weapons, the missile systems on ships. What system is dictated by the C school they are sent to, which in turn, dictates the type of ship

ET is electronics techincian, working on radar, navigation, communications, antennas,  test equipment, even weather gear, and more.  An individual ET would not work on all those things, but on what they were taught in specific C schools.  I was an ET,  I worked in secure communications, and picked up micro-miniature repair along the way.  My husband was initially radar, but also picked up the same communications systems I worked on ... we met on the job.

Hello, My son is in boot camp, he graduates Sept 9th! He called today (yay!) and he mentioned that he had a meeting recently about his rate AECF..(I'm going to get the navy language all wrong, sorry!). Is it true that he will not be able to pick witch route he would prefer, ET or FC?  They pick it for him? He was surprised by this....also he said the paper they had at MEPS with the AECF info was 5 years old and outdated.  I tried to keep things positive with him...Can someone simply explain what each ET and FC does?

Any phase.  Even the ones who graduate that weekend before!

Anti M I have a question regarding Christmas leave. Do they need to be in Phase 3 Liberty in order to get leave or can they take leave at any Phase?

Oh, wow! That is wonderful Austin's mom.  U love it when a person gets the job they want.  My son is praying to get Tomahawks too.  He graduates A school in August.

My son got his orders and will go to San Diego for C school. He is an FC and will be working with Tomahawks on The USS Kidd! This is what he hoped to get. Very proud of him!!
