N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hello:  I could not wait to get my daughter's form letter yesterday to find out her PIR date.  So we could make travel arrangements but mostly so I could join her group.  My son went through Boot Camp 2 years ago and "diannep" was such a huge, huge help.  This time I knew where to look.  We got her letter and the first thing I did was join this group.  Diannep you are a GODSEND!!!!!!

Question:  How do we know the name of the ship (so we can buy a challenge coin)  My son was the US Hopper, my daughter is Ship 02, Div 945.  Anyone know?

Kory....:  Glad you are on this group until you find out for sure.  You can go through the info on here in the PAGES section and get lots of good info there.  We usually post the same info on each PIR group, so you will be one step ahead if you have to move to the next group!

Kory...:  Some of the security clearances are obtained during Bootcamp so some families get calls from their SRs asking for contact info of neighbors, etc, who have known them for a long time.  It is a process!

Hope you get that form letter soon so you have your SR's info!

I am getting frustrated with the recruiter.  They've been great so far, but getting something so simple as his Division # doesn't seem to be an easy task.  It's interesting CJDA that you received a call from him about security.  My son had to have a Top Secret clearance for his rating, but I was led to believe that was all taken care of prior to their arrival.  Glad you got to hear his voice :)

Kory&joshuasmom: my son arrived in boot camp on 7/27 and I received his box on Friday. I called his recruiter and was able to get his address and PIR date of 9/18. He's in ship 13 div 314. He called on Saturday for security clearance purposes and he confirmed PIR 9/18. Take care.

My son is also in 310 and I did receive the form letter. Didn't recognize the neat printing...but it's all good!!

Hi all....not 100% sure yet if I should be here or in the PIR 9/25 group.  Still waiting on form letter.  My SR arrived last Monday 7/27...received the box on Thursday 7/30, so anxiously awaiting his information now.  Have letters all ready to be mailed.  Have joined FB groups for these PIR dates as well.  His recruiter was able to give me his ship # 13, but not his Division # yet- so I'm getting impatient.  Hoping that will clarify for me if I don't get his form letter in the next day or two.   Did anyone else's SR arrive last Monday 7/27?

Sorry...just had to add this...while she was deployed in the middle of wherever she was, my sister, who was her second mom passed away...the navy took care of all her itenararies, to be able to come home the day before my sister passes. They have shown so much respect and they took care of my daughter and the family...I couldn't thank them enough..

Good morning everyone. I agree with diannep, tbird...my daughter is signed up for 6 years...she was in A & C school for 8 months right after boot camp and then she was assigned on a ship and was deployed right after...she was able to spend a week with us before deployment...during deployment they can only call you when they reach their destination, they can't tell us where their going and when or how long they would be there...her ship was docked for repairs and we are able to see her a lot...hope that helps...take care and have a nice day...
