My son swore in yesterday and has a date of August 12th for BMT.  His contract is for Aviation Ordnanceman (AO).  He is super excited. I am feeling emotional and overwhelmed.  Anyone else have a son leaving on August 12th, 2015?

Mine leaves the 13th...our to great lakes. I want time to stand still
I agree, If only it could. But by the grace of God we raised heros. And heros they will be

I love this statement.  It is so true.  Thank you

How awesome!  Same day, same contract!  I just sent you a message. (:

@Bamafan I woke up today realizing my son has his 7 day re-cert.... How did it go so fast.??  7 days until my First son leaves the nest, for the Navy. Wow lots of emotions for this momma... What is your sons Rate/job?

Rate is the same as rank for other branches (E-1 or SR, E-2 or SA, E-3 or SN). We seldom ask about rate. Rating is job or occupational specialty that one has a contract for, MA for your recruit. After the Sailor completes "A" School, rate and rating go together to make the rate badge and then many simply refer to that as the rate, MASR, MASA, MASN and so on, for example.

My son is Master at Arms. He hopes to work with the K9 division. Yes the tears come much more these days. I spent the day last thurs crying i think 5 times as we went on our last family trip as a family of 6 with our SR home. From now on it changes and that is hard on my heart, as I am sure you are experiencing the same emotions. But we raised fine young men who have answered the call of duty on their hearts and when I think of that I am swelled with Pride and a little less tears. (Well maybe different tears)

I agree. The support of other parents definitely helps.

LivinginGrace, I left additional info for you on your My Page on MA MWD.

Thank you

You are very welcome.

Thinking of you Bamanfan-

My son leaves Aug 13. He's my first born and only 18yrs old. He will celebrate his 19th birthday at bootcamp. Maybe our boys will meet. I'm having a rough time also.
