Hello ladies. Seems like I fell off the face of the earth. I have been having computer problems and now all of many n4m posts go to my junk mail. An email program has grabbed my emails from my web program and I can only check emails from my husband's computer. I will have to try and get that taken care of later. It is just great to be posting again. My daughter had her baby, so now I am a grandma (hard to say).

I have really missed everyone. So glad to be back.

8isenuff- congrats to your sailor. My son is supposed to be graduating in Sept, but her did they are not having a graduation. I could not go to A school grad, he had to retest for power school, so he didn't get to walk and now he says no graduation for proto. Even if there was, I am starting a new job and can't take time.

Jmama - our son has his car registered in our home state and his insurance is also in Oregon. The insurance agent said that until they get their orders they are treated as if they are in college. I have heard that USAA is good. Our insurance is Allstate and they can insure through their national office, so probably won't change.

Thank you 8isenuff and B'sNukeMom, my son is aboard the USS Ronald Reagan, his first choice!

Besties4dogs - big old NMH's to you!  I'm sure your son is excited to start the next adventure of his nuke journey!  Where is he stationed?

Donna - I'm going to 2nd what J's/S'smom said! My son said Power School was the hardest for him - he even had to re-comp.  Right now your son is his own worst enemy - somehow if he can convince himself to relax (I know, easier said than done!) he can get through this - tell him to Believe in Himself!  And no matter what happens, it isn't the end of the world! Good luck to him!

Talked to me son last night and he's struggling with his grades.  He's in Power School (EM) and is drawing a blank when he sits down to take his tests.  It isn't that he doesn't understand the material, is that he sykes himself out and over stresses because he wants to do the best, which causes him to not do well.

I try to encourage him to relax, ask for help and take it one day at a time.  Stop shooting for the moon, but rather shoot to clear the gravity pull.  LOL  I feel so lost on this end of things and would love any advice I can pass on to him to help him relax before tests.

Now he's even more stressed that they'll drop him because he's JUST passing.  They haven't pulled him in to talk to him about it, so I keep telling him that's a good sign, but I really don't know if it is or not?  I would figure that they would talk to him about his future if he really was doing that badly.  Does anyone have any insight on that?

Besties4dogs, Fair winds and following seas to your MM as he is off to new adventures.   I can only imagine what I will be like when my two finally get orders and set sail.   :-)  (((Besties4dogs)))

It's official!!  My son is now an MM on board his new ship and it looks like we may not see him for a very long time since he is stationed on the other side of the country and soon on the other side of the world.  I was brave at the airport but am now a blubbering idiot. Hopefully, this passes soon.  I am so excited that he is finally starting his new great adventure!!  I do need some Navy Mom hugs though.

Thank you Co-Twin for the info on the graduation.

Thanks all. I'm confident he'll soar as an MT. He always lands on his feet. Like a cat ;)

Comment by WearsLargeHats on August 4, 2015 at 11:03am

TJ, It seems a lot of nuke-drops go to MT. So much so that I wonder if most MTs enter that way. So he will have plenty of company and I'm sure he will do fine.
