Anyone else with a child/loved one leaving from Indy on the 18th?

Mine isn't leaving from Indy but is leaving from Louisiana on the 18th!
My son leaves from Dallas Ft Worth on Aug 18, 2015!

We'll all have to keep touch as they progress - it would be great to meet up at PIR if they all graduate the same time!  Enjoy these last two weeks! We started this process last October, so I guess it felt like he would never go and now it seems like we started yesterday...

I cannot imagine being a DEPPER for almost a year. How did they stay motivated? My son signed his contract on 4/22 and he has been raring to go the entire summer until the last few days. He is trying not to show it, but... I am enjoying every minute of his last few days. He keeps thinking of all kinds of things that he just HAS to do before he leaves.

There have been times I worried he would give up.  His first recruiter was less than helpful, but once we discovered we could switch things moved much faster.  He had his sights set on a rate, so was willing to wait for an opening in that position.  I have noticed a positive change the last couple of weeks as we move closer to him leaving and he is really excited to get started.  He will actually be in Texas for A school... Do you know where your son is going for A school?

He chose YN, so he will go to A school in Meridian MS. What is your son's rate? I assume he will be in San Antonio.  One of my favorite places!

He decided on MA and will be at Lackland. My dad is thrilled - he was in the Air Force and was stationed there for a while... He originally thought about DC, but the firefighting was what he found interesting and it sounded like they don't do much of that but more maintenance tasks...

Hey Ladies!
Anyone else dealing with grumpy-ness? How do you handle it with it being so close to their leave date next week?

We have been on the receiving end of a little grumpiness.  I think he is trying to get his head ready to leave in a week and I have chosen to ignore it and give an extra hug.  He has always been a "glass half full" guy, so I believe he is just soaking in his upcoming reality. Hang in there

Yeah I've mostly just been leaving him alone/ignoring it when it happens. Thanks for the reply, glad to know I'm not alone in that respect.

Mine started this process last October, so we have had lots of grumpy while awaiting his trip to RTC. Thankfully these last couple of weeks he has been more excited than grumpy, a little nervous I think, and very loving. Hang in there, I think they will all be loving this weekend.  We're having a little family party Saturday - hoping none of the grumpy shows up there ;)

Mine has also been very loving the last few weeks, it's been really nice.  Our party is also Saturday, good luck to us all!
