Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on August 27, 2015 at 11:52am: If they call you for any official business....security clearance info, etc....they will call from a base phone. They will need the phone cards to make their personal calls from the pay phones. They have a supply card that they were issued when they arrived that they can use to buy one in the NEX but it helps them if you can send them one.

Just wondering if I should send a calling card to my daughter. I just thought about this after hearing about kids not calling. Is this a good idea or will the SR's be able to use the Navy's phones to call home? Any advice is welcomed:-)

Comment by diannep on August 27, 2015 at 7:17am: dcgmom: When passing along SRs' names, it is best to do that by private message on here. Sometimes the RDCs look not only at this site but the FB groups too (I don't care that they are "private groups" over there, they find ways to get accepted into them!). It is best to try and keep comments on here general and not make it easy for them to connect you with your SR. Last names are prohibited on here anyway, but we even encourage first names not to be exposed either. We also advise when you want to share more personal details of your SRs' letters, that you do so by private message on here to those who are your friends rather than posting on the public pages here.

It is probably best for you to friend request others in your division and if your SR has given you names of his friends, you can private message these ladies and ask if any of these SRs are theirs. I'm assuming that your SR has LAST names only, as the SRs go by last names.
