DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Thanks joshmom!!!

He'll be waiting for the GW's arrival in VA, so I guess he'll have other duties until then?

bon j - please stop in from time to time and let us know how you and your son are doing. I will always feel a connection to Japan and I'm going to miss hearing the stories from that far away land. I know the RR is in good hands with all those great GW sailors onboard....Fair winds and following seas!

Hi to all, Since my son has transferred from the " G DUB" to the Ronald Raegan I'll sadly be leaving this group and joining another. But I would like to thank this group for their posts that kept me informed as much as possible. I want to thank Brenda Downs for creating this group as it helped a newbie sailors mom from worrying herself into hysteria. Thanks again to all and may god sail with all our sailors.

Hello ladies! And welcome Alyce & Aliyah!!

Sleeping on a barge...sure hope not! When the GW was home ported in Japan new sailors arriving would live on the barge first before going to the ship so perhaps that's the info you got.

Aliyah - due to OPSEC we can't say but it won't be until later this year...they still got a big cruise ahead of them

And congrats to your son Alyce on his graduation from C school! Will your son be meeting up with the ship soon or not till it arrives in Virginia?

Hi!! My son just finished C school in Pensacola last week, and will be assigned to the GW when it arrives for its overhaul. He's an IT Sys Admin. I've been seeing around some groups online that sailors working on a dry docked ship sleep on a barge. Do any of you know that to be true?
