Heard from my daughter today! The weirdest thing is the letters are not dated? any one knows why? Also, she asked me to send shampoo and hair products, I am assuming I can do it since she asked?
Good morning all, Have fun to all those going to PIR tomorrow!
Anna, enjoy VA, wish I could tag along with you.
Morning all!
Congrats to your daughter cjbmom.
I have had my grandchildren for the past month while my daughter is out with her ship and her husband is looking for work.
cbjmom,
Congratulations to your daughter!!!! Enjoy your visit with her, and wishing her safe travels to her new duty station.
hellraiser,
Not sure about going to an adjoining hotel because I'm sure she'd have to leave the security area and then might have problems getting back through since she won't be with the group and may not have all her orders/papers with her. I'd get a gate pass for the family of a military person flying out (I've always been able to go to the gate with my sailors even if they are just going back from leave) and spend the day with her in the airport!!! I'd find a nice quiet, empty gate and just sit and chat!!!!!
I don't know of any momma who can have a dry eye at PIR once those doors open and they all start marching in!!! Even tho our daughter's group was one of the last ones, I had soaked up 3 or 4 tissues by then!!!!
ENJOY YOUR SAILORS!!!!!
Excellent!!!
So glad to hear you made it safely hellraiser! My daughter stayed in GL for A school so I'm not sure about the airport situation but I think there's a room where you can spend time w/ your sailors - the USO room? I remember reading comments on the boot camp site.
do you happen to have a pair of binoculars? I bought an inexpensive pair thru amazon but I'll bet Walmart has something similar. They made all the difference in the world! We passed them from person to person during the entire ceremony and could see every facial expression -- it was fantastic! Even tho the hall isn't huge, your daughter will be far enough away that you won't be able to really see her face unless she's right up front.
Have a wonderful time!!!! Don't forget your tissues!
