OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Are you still up there, Navymom?  You should be able to order it at the Photo Lab on RTC.  I will see if I can get the phone number for you if you can't go there yourself.  Takes a few weeks to get it to you.

How do you obtain a copy of the DVD from graduation yesterday? I wanted to buy one but didn't know where to purchase it at?

Hope all enjoyed PIR Day and that you are enjoying airport visits with your sailors today or visits through the weekend with those remaining in A School!

Ladies, we need for you to post on here after PIR weekend and let us know how we did with our info.  We constantly want to update our info to the next groups if things have changed.  So please post where we were accurate and where we need to tweak a bit!  Thanks so much!

Good Morning!

Angela,

So glad the shuttle worked out for you and you had a wonderful day with your Sailor!!  Have fun at O'Hare tomorrow running around with him!!

Comment by Angela on August 28, 2015 at 11:12pm
Ty FTLW and Catmom509, we ended up taking the shuttle and were one of the first in line. Wonderful ceremony, all the people around us were great. We were able to get to Chicago, eat, see Cloudgate, and get back in record time! Now off to bed and an early adventure at Ohare tomorrow to see him off on his next adventure.
