Wow teaching at the best journalism school in the nation! I might be a little biased! I am looking forward to moving back to my old stomping grounds. I decided I should live close to the rest of my family because who knows where AJ might land...literally Lol!

I teach one class in the journalism school at Carolina, so I drive there two days a week.  I'm a Wake Forest grad, but I love the UNC campus and Chapel Hill in general. Congratulations on the grandson!

My daughter is living in my hometown, Durham. I want to live in either Durham or Chapel Hill, my alma mater.Last Oct. was a very busy time for AJ, my son.  He and his girlfriend had a beautiful baby boy, my first grandchild.at the same time they moved from Tallahassee to P'Cola to begin flight training.

Welcome, Proudmom. Where in North Carolina does your daughter live, or where in the state would you be interested in moving? We're in Piedmont North Carolina, and our Navy son has a house in Currituck County, not far from Norfolk, Va. He's stationed in Annapolis now, though, so his house is rented out.

Hello ladies! I just now joined this group and I want to introduce myself. My son is almost finished with his first year of flight training in FL. He might be in Corpus Christi for his second year; I'm praying for Corpus since I'm only 3 hours away in Austin. I work part time as a therapist. I also have a daughter who lives in NC. I plan to move to NC next year; I want to live closer to my daughter. Unless my son is in Corpus, if so I'll stay put until he moves on. I'm looking forward to being together with other Navy Moms!

Rita - Congrats to your son!

M'sMom is right, people coming & going all the time in Pens.  When our son was moving there he found his roommates on some facebook page for aviators.

He is in aviation.  Thanks for the tip M's Mom.  I didn't realize there was a "Naval aviation" group on here. I'm hoping the roommate situation works out like you stated.  He said the same thing.

I'm sure he will do just that Marmie.  He bought a membership to the university rec center here to keep training while home.  Thanks! I'm excited to make my way over there sometime while he's there. (I'm in Texas, about 10 hours away.)

And tell your son to take advantage of the early arrival to Pcola to start studying and getting the lay of the land.  My LO was down there early and used it to prepare for the next round of training (and don't forget the PT!).  Congrats.

Rita:  Congrats to your son!  If he's headed to P'cola, he must be in aviation?   Be sure to join the "Naval Aviation" group here on N4M's.  Those Moms can answer any questions you will have about flight school.

As for housing in P'cola, there are aviators coming and going all the time, so there are always folks looking for roommates.

Hi Moms!

My son left yesterday and drove to Pensacola. He was on OHARP for a few weeks.  He said he is the only one from his 13-15 class that has to report by 8-21.  Everyone else has OHARP a full 12 weeks.  I'm so proud of him. We are ready to start this process.  I hope he finds housing ok.
