We just received our first phone call from our SR and he sounded sooo much better that I thought he would. He was nervous when he left since the leaving process was alot of hurry up and wait, he had too much time to think about what he was doing. He did JROTC in high school and has seen and heard about BC from his brother, even thought he is Army Reserves. I am so excited to hear he has passed they physical portion, as his mother I have had reservations if he can complete them. Somehow we never realize that they have grown up on us and can complete these tasks. Now he has to stay focused and study for the academic tests that come up in the coming weeks. We are so proud of him!

Can't wait to see him on graduation!

That is great!!!

You have been such a wealth of information to so many of us Navy Moms, I was hoping you can answer a question. I read somewhere that the SR's only get 3 phone calls, didn't know if this is true or not and if the last call is the "I'm a Sailor" call. Any ideas.

There is no set number of calls, but most will be able to make at least 3 calls. See the info in Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

Since I havn't heard from my son and not sure if he has put his brother on the access list for PIR, is there anyway I can find out if he did. I know I am not able to do this, but we don't have a choice but to bring our youngest, but don't want to get to the gate and find out his name is not there. Then someone has to take him back and possibly miss PIR. I am hoping to find out on his next call. Any ideas?

2servmom, Write him and give him the names of up to 4 people who will be able to attend PIR. You can ask him when he calls who he listed--even if it is the "I'm a Sailor!" call. He is able to make changes to the Access List up until 24 hours before PIR .

Check your My Page.

So glad you heard from your son.  I'm still waiting for my call from my son.  Saw him in a dream last night and he looked good, so I know he is doing well.  Just would love to hear his voice!
