N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My son is in Ship 6 (USS Constitution--Old Iron Sides), Division 356

For those on Facebook, there is also a closed group for this PIR date on there.

Looking forward to sharing the next 8 weeks with you all.

Hi!

Welcome to Navy for Moms!!

My Sailor Daughter's PIR was March 2013--can't believe how fast time has flown!. She is an IT3 (Information Systems Technician, Petty Officer Third Class). I primarily provide scriptural encouragement for the PIR groups, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and a few of the other groups that I am a member of. I'll also help out with anything that I am familiar with--all kinds of tidbits I learned during my daughter's Boot Camp experience~~ This site really made the time go much faster. I'm so thankful that my Sailor daughter sent me the link for this awesome group of friends when she enlisted!! Count 9 Fridays and before you know it, you'll be seeing your baby again at PIR!! Here we go!!!

Hello, I hope to receive my form letter tomorrow. I have some letters I want to send out. How are others here doing? Is it getting a little easier?

The Information from the Recruiters will have additional things like:

Your recruits gender and compartment number, the Hull number of the actual Ship and Ship name (all the ships at RTC are named for real naval vessels) and the fiscal year.

Address your Letters from the information from your Form Letters please :-D

Hi I just received my form letter today. PIR date is 10/23, ship 06, div 355. But the recruiter today gave me different information. Which address do you recommend using to write a letter? Thanks in advance !

Love2dance:  You won't see your new sailor until PIR.  You will either have PIR day with your sailor (if flying out) and then a visit at the airport with them the next day....or....daytime Liberty through the weekend with your sailor if staying in GL for A School.  All sailors must return to base each night.

We are trying to plan when to arrive for PIR and when to leave . Do you know if we will get to visit with our SR before the PIR date or after?
