N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

oh, goodgirls....just saw the A School comment.  If staying in GL for A School, they move over there right after PIR as a group and you pick them up later on that base.  So probably would be better to stay at the hotel since you will have very limited time with them after PIR.  But up to you!

Comment by diannep on September 2, 2015 at 8:51am

No, goodgirls---you cannot go into PIR Hall to see your new sailor...they clear the hall 10 min after the conclusion of PIR.  You will be ushered into the Chapel from the Visitors Center and ushered back.  Your sailor/family meets you there.  There is no guarantee that you will be allowed into the Chapel, but you can try.  You are required to stay in there, even if the Livestream "messes up" (it happens!) until the completion of PIR when you will be ushered out.  There is no food/drink allowed in there and kids under 18 must have an adult with them.  So keep all of this in mind!  You can always watch the Livestream at your hotel...they usually stream if in a public area.  Then meet up with your sailor/family members there.

Good Morning All!

What are the thoughts as to going to the chapel to watch PIR if not on PIR list? Do you get to go to the hall to see the SR after graduation or do you have to wait until they are released for liberty (they are attending A school at Great Lakes) ? Thanks!

Would like to suggest that all check the hotels they are interested in at www.tripadvisor.com for reviews.

I wonder if that would work for us because I was able to reserve Thursday night the 10th and sat night the 12th at Navy Lodge but they don't have the 11th available
Comment by EKB on September 1, 2015 at 5:02pm

I have a room reserved at the Sleep Inn very close to the base that I do not need. Before I release it. does anyone in this group need a room? We can call together and maybe they will let you take over the reservation. Let me know.

tristansmom:  This group will start BattleStations this Thurs night for some divisions...the rest will go early next week.  So some will be getting wonderful calls this Fri...the rest will get them.next week!  With 13 divisions going through, it will take them 4 nights to get all through.  They will either go Thu, Sun, Mon and Tues or Thu, Mon, Tues, Wed.   Yes, sometimes they go as late as Wed night, with calls on Thurs afternoon.  Lets hope they go Sun night instead of Wed night next week.  Then, all I'm a Sailor calls will be completed by Wed afternoon.

Although some random calls come in the weekend before PIR every now and then, usually they don't.
