Wow! such nice discussions :)  I have a bit trouble following them all, but love hearing about everyone & all your Navy families.

about phones -- dd got a SIM card for her Sprint phone yesterday & we did a military suspend through Sprint.  No more monthly Sprint fees until she comes back.  Monthly charge for the Vodafone (Italian) SIM card & a data card is less than $35/month.  She will have to get used to using less data cuz she has limits there, whereas here it was unlimited.

She now has an Italian phone number so work, landlord, etc can call her.  We can/do call and text her on Viber app.  She has been talking to her bf on Skype with and w/o video.    We've been able to communicate just fine, most of the time.  Sometimes it's a bit hinky.  She also uses FB messenger with her friends.

Kinda babbling on about it so y'all can learn.  I had a difficult time finding info about phones on here.

Understand, she is on land, is not, and will not be, on a ship.

Hi everyone. Wow - I love this conversation. I used to live back east and had a wonderful garden. But now I'm out west and find the desert isn't very kind to growing my own veggies. Gardens are work but in this head and sand --- way too much work! We do buy local as much as we can tho.

I have a sister who is a beekeeper and gardener on Cape Cod, a daughter in NJ who gardens, freezes, cans, makes her own cheeses. It IS a much healthier lifestyle - I think it's also much more rewarding!  It's not weird Blondie! It's awesome!

yes, I didn't mean it as easy simple, glad you knew what I meant. going back to old fashion fily living, per say! that's me all day hands on!

Not weird at all! it's honestly the best amd would love that simple lifestyle. I wish that were the case with us, one day. you're doing it right and eating better than the stuff some of us get at chain stores. I buy local whenever I can!

Blondie, aren't you the busy little bee, lol. How wonderful, I've always wanted to try canning but never got around to it. One day I will!

Have an awesome day everyone!

Good morning

Lynn, how exciting for them. Wishing the best for them.

Thank you everyone for the best wishes and advice. I am going to do what has to be done. Got one thing through to them, when they realized it would make it easier for them, they were happy about it. One thing at a time.

Jean, hope you don't wash away now! Wow your weather is bad. Hope when we get rain it doesn't flood.

Have a good day everyone! Half way through the week.

Catsmom,

Have to break in the newbie, oh wait that would be you!!!  I'm sure you will win them over in awhile.  They just have to see that you are serious about your job and their jobs and the overall  success of the program!!!

Lynn,

My daughter did flight school in Pensacola.  What is your daughter and SIL training for?
