Dittersmom, Lilo54, and Yella Horse Gal, thank you for your helpful responses. I will pass this info on to my sailor. He currently doesn't have a roommate...his roomie moved on and they haven't yet place anyone new yet. But he thinks someone may be coming soon.
Yella Horse Gal, our sailor has been in GC since May 27 and he is in class 1538T.
Thanks again! This is a great place to find answers and support, so thankful for this Navy family.
DittersMom, prayers for your new job!

Start my new job in 8 hrs. Can't believe I chose to be so far from my family.  Wish me luck and say prayers.

Kedj - woohoo - proto grad! BZ to your sailor ;-)  Your son should be fine in nice shorts & a polo.  Of course your sailor will be in dress uniform but it's still pretty casual - held in a community center building. They'll give you plenty of time to stop them to take pictures too.  Enjoy your visit!

Hi folks! Anyone else headed to BS for proto graduation on Friday? We're supposed to be leaving tomorrow but I have no details from my sailor, LOL! For anyone who's been, is it casual? Wondering how dressed up my 16yo has to get - if he'll be okay in khaki shorts and a polo or if I need to force him into long pants

Michelle 0206 my son did the same.  Theirs rooms were such that 4 were sharing one bathroom, 2 bedrooms.  So, 4 sailors shared the cost each month which made it cheaper.  The one who ordered it in his name would change the password each month as the bill came due and would give it to those who paid.  It kept everything honest and the bill was always paid.

Hi all - Happy Wednesday!

I'm excited - one of our nuke mom's is heading to San Diego to visit her sailor & we are getting together on Sunday & going to an Angel game!  Can't wait - our son's had PIR the same time too.  Love being able to meet up with Nuke/Navy mom's ;-)  And my hubby's happy 'cuz we're going to the Angel game lol!

Michelle0206 - My son has been in GC since the end of January.  He said he signed up for Comcast in his name.  He split the cost with his roommate.  He has since moved to a new building with all the Power School sailors and has a new roommate that he is splitting the cost with.  Comcast is not cheap and they have the faster speed so they can watch movies and download games (when they are not studying which seems to be most of the time).  But, I'm sure its cheaper than going over the data allocation on the phone!  He said that there is a Comcast rep that just handles NNPTC. I'm sure your son can just ask around.  Good luck.

My son is also on my family plan on verizon. He did have internet when he was there. I think he shared with room mates.

Girlchief, sorry to hear about your sailor. Hope she gets the best care possible and be back on the road to prototype as soon as possible. Glad you can make it to Goose Creek to be with her. And the boyfriend is a plus. :)
