Lynn,

My daughter went through flight training for NFO  Oct 2012 to Feb 2013.  Now she is attached to a squadron in Oklahoma.  Her flight training was intense while at P'cola.  Your daughter and son in law probably will have much different training but I'm sure they will have the same kind of survival training and will most likely also have to go through SERE training.  Is there something in particular I can answer for you??

Blondie, sounds good to me. Eating without all the unknown chemichales is so much better, and taste so fresh. I buy from local farmers as well. I wish I had the land to grow things. I do use containers, but just not the same. It limits what I can do. But enjoy what I can do. I grew up making everything from scratch, still do.
Sure wish I could saddle up and ride! I used to ride all the time growing up. Nothing better! So now I settle on walks on the beach, also very soothing. You are not weird at all!

Lynn, that is awesome. How rewarding that will be.

Vickyrun, Hugs. Hope things smooth out soon! Going through some changes too. It will work out for us my sister.

In/Jf, happy the phone is all settled, always good to be able to stay in contact with them!

Have a good night everyone.

Wow Lynn - very exciting career path!

Blondie- I have friends who compete in cutting. It's remarkable - I had no idea a horse could move like a cat. My sailor competed in Reining for many years. I'm just happy out on the trail. Yep - being exhausted after a day riding and at the barn is somehow grounding.

So sorry Vickyrun! Sending you best wishes and ((hugs))

Lynn- that's awesome.  Hope it goes well for them.

What do you want to know ?  Flight training took about 4 months before ds did his first solo flight in a Cessna, but that can vary.  Then he was sent to Corpus for training on a bigger plane, but some are sent to Milton, FL for that, just north of Pensacola.

They are both doing the flight surgeon path- which I guess teaches them how to fly but they never actually solo although they can do rear seat. After that they are the medical officers for an air wing. I don't understand much about the training but they will be there for the next several months They both went to ushus in Bethesda which is the military medical school then did internships at Portsmouth Naval Hopsital.

Hi all, a lot of  personal changes going on in my life. How come when everything is perfect it up and changes? I will muddle through somehow.

At least the sailors are not giving me any problems.

(meant to say, "in this heat")

I go through stages of growing herbs but I use fresh all the time. We cook -- we all cook. We're in the food business too. But you're right, I love getting my hands in dirt! Though I've never lived on a farm I've had horses much of my life and my favorite thing in the world is to come home after a long day of riding, dirty, tired and connected to the outdoors!

Lynn -- ds is stationed in Corpus now, after doing his first bit of Aviator training in Pensacola.  Anna asks a good question, what are your dd & sil in training for?  What do you want to know?
