N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

garden gal:  My son told me before he left for BootCamp, almost 6 yrs ago now....that he wouldn't write....but he would call when he could.  Said he didn't like writing....so....to give you hope, I received 5 letters from him....and he begged me to keep writing as he lived for mail and he took time to write 2 page letters back!  So never say never!  :-)

garden gal, I wrote almost everyday and dated the envelopes so when he got them he could open in order, now that I have his address it's about every other day or about 4-5 times this week, last night I typed a 3 page letter and put a few photos in the envelope also, therapy for me as well.  if he is not a writer , tell him to draw you a picture explaining his day, that could be very interesting

I meant I am not waiting on a letter from him to send mine, I have been writing every day to him.  Its theraputic for mr to write.

Comment by garden gal on September 4, 2015 at 9:51am

I figured they would.  Just waiting on a real letter from him to confirm everything.  I know its too early to worry, but my husband says my son probably won't write because "like father like son".  But then he suggested I I write a threat in one of my letters.  He said I should threaten that if I don't get a letter soon I will send a musical Barney card with hearts & smiley faces on the outside, with glitter & perfume.  Just a threat...I would NEVER do that.  But the image was amusing.

Oh boy, garden gal.  Well, they will forward mail until all can be assured what division their SR is in!  Thanks for the update!

Hi Diannep.  Good morning. That's what I thought, but my son said he was moved after the letter was mailed and that we should use the Div 949 address.  He said he was one of the last to arrive in boot camp that week (he called Friday at 2 am), and that later in the week the RDCs were complaining because people were being transferred from div to div much later in the process than is typical.

Good Morning!

Normally you send mail to the form letter address.

Comment by garden gal on September 4, 2015 at 9:16am

Jenny - When we got my son's letter last Friday it said Div 352.  Then he was allowed to call last Friday evening & said someone had come through the divisions looking for anyone with a music background.  Those selected to perform were moved to Div 949 which is a Triple Threat or performance division. See http://navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms/page/900-divisions.  If she is currently in the choir then she would be in Div 949.  You could call the recruiter back & find out what it says in the computer now.
