N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My bad on saying the drill hall, need to be more awake when posting I guess. :) The visitors center and the drill hall are connected through a walkway, and I just typed when my brain knew better.

Sorry and Blushed

Hi all! I have not yet introduced myself to this group.  I have a recruit in DIV 001!  Got letters our first letters on Thursday, and they sound great!  This is my 4th child that I am sending off to become a sailor! GO NAVY!!!!!

Has anyone received any calls from DIV 001 other than the initial "I'm here" call?

P.S. To the mom that has more family than are allowed- If I could offer you ONE bit of unsolicited advice, it would be this:  Make sure YOU are at least one of the people watching it in person.  The moment those "garage doors" roll up on the building and you hear the drums beating and the sailors all start marching through them, you just get chills and your heart wants to burst.  I just feel it would not be the same watching on TV.

Good Morning/Afternoon!

Ok, here is the info on the "extras" allowed in the Chapel.  They will not be allowed at the drill hall; they will be held at the Visitors Center, then ushered into the Chapel.  After it is over, the same procedure.  Back to Visitors Center.  Just don't want anyone thinking they will get to go into PIR Hall before it starts.  Won't be able to do that.

https://www.facebook.com/notes/us-navy-recruit-training-command/add...

There IS a capacity limit in the Chapel so although you are not limited on the number of people you can bring in your group, there is no guarantee that all will get in.

ellen0502--    Thanks for the info.  Sounds like the hotel would be best.

Comment by ellen0502 on October 4, 2015 at 9:31am

Peace, The chapel is available for extras...most of the time, and there is a limit on numbers.

Extras are walked to the chapel from the drill hall, and once you are there you cannot leave until PIR is over, livestream working or not. When the ceremony is over you are escorted back to the visitors center, and you will not be able to see your Sailor until they have left for liberty. There is also a policy of no food or beverage in the chapel.

Most hotels stream the ceremony, and the Navy Lodge streams it in their lobby. We recommend extras stay at the hotel to watch. Nothing better than being able to walk around a bit, have some coffee, maybe some breakfast while watching, and enjoy the ceremony with others who are just as excited as you to see their Sailor!

diannep      I saw somewhere on this site that they will let extras watch the stream of PIR from the chapel.  First come first serve.  Do you know if they still do this since I'm sure things change based on security and so on?  It also said if the stream is lost you can leave the chapel till PIR is over.   Do they loose the stream often?  How about at the hotels?
