PACT Moms

Let's chat about our wonderful sons and daughters who have chosen the PACT program.

Hello

It has been a long time since I have posted and I am sorry. I hope everyone has been able to connect with others in the PACT program. My son is now 3 and a half years in and it has been a great experience. He thought he wanted to be an AM. When he got on the ship, he was put with the AO’s. Now he is an AD3. It was best for him to start PACT because we didn’t know much about the Navy and he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. This has been a good route for him.

My understanding is that they go through seamanship training for two weeks then get deployed.  They spend approximately 1 year serving as a seaman or seaman apprentice and can then strike for a rating.  Your son may be able to strike earlier.  If he is still at Great Lakes training he may want to reach out to someone before he actually gets deployed.

Good morning PACT parents - I am hoping that someone here might have some information for me.  My sailor and I were talking last night... he knows I am still on NavyforMoms so he thought I might be able to find out about BUDs training here.  He is thinking he wants to try to be a SEAL.  He has just started his A-PACT rate this past month.  Does anyone know how long a sailor has to have a rate before he can apply for BUDs?

Just wanted folks to know my daughter had PIR on 10/2 and is now in A school in Pensacola. She has training for 38 days is so optimistic I am so happy! This rating is what you make of it. Like all other ratings, its good and bad, fun and not so much fun. I am going to support her without a doubt and she will do just fine! As with all our sailors, we have to support them and guide them towards the correct path.

So excited michael's mom!! Mine is still deployed but we message several times a week. We are making plans to fly out to watch the ship come in!! Can't wait to see him and give him a great big hug!! The sad part is that he won't get to be with us for Christmas. Too many want to take off at that time. I think he said he had an invitation to spend Christmas Day with one of his Chiefs.

Hi everyone. My son finished his training in GL and was home on leave. Yesterday he left again to San Diego. It was so hard to see him go. They ended up putting him on another ship because his ship was being repaired. He was so tired after a long day of waiting. I hope he can get into a barrack soon. Do you guys know is there is an active group for San Diego?
