N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I haven't heard from mine yet. I am going out of town with my family this weekend to the mountains. I won't have any reception... I'm so worried he'll call and I'll miss it. I'm strongly considering not going. : (

*They won't know until right before PIR  re: their flight plans.

Comment by diannep on October 4, 2015 at 11:46am

Hannah:  I see that your SR will be going to Groton.  So, you will just have PIR day with your sailor....he will have to be back on base by 8 ot 9 pm that night and will be bussed the airport a few hours later....you can meet him at the airport though.  Bring ID and get an airlines gate pass to wait at the gate until he departs.  Those with sailors staying in GL for A School will have daytime Liberty through the weekend (back on base at night)....but they won't be able to have Liberty with their sailors until mid-afternoon on PIR day, once they have moved to the other base.

Also, occasionally some sailors will not fly out until Sunday.  If that happens, you will have Saturday Liberty with your sailor also.  They won't now until right before PIR re: their flight plans.

Good Morning All !

Just catching up by following yesterday's comments. Even though we haven't gotten a call (Ship 03, Div 12), it does bring a little comfort to hear other SRs are saying that they are doing well and some are even saying they 'like it'. I hope to get one of those calls :-)  I know we will get a call eventually, but I am also of the mindset that no news is good news. I'd rather wait for another week, than to get a call early on that something is not going well.  Happy Sunday everyone! God's got this.

Nicole, I am a step Mom but my daughters real Mother isn't really a part of her life. I have helped raise her since she was 4 and 1/2 she is now 18 and will turn 19 in Dec. she calls me Momma, I've never really been addressed as Step Mom. Although she may have referred to me as that to her friends at school, but that term has never really be used around our house. I have no biological children so as far as I'm concerned she's my daughter.

The newly graduated Sailors do not have overnight Liberty on PIR weekend.
