DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Did every one get their Gate pass? I got mine yesterday. Also don't forget to let your bank know your going out of town and will be using it if you use debit card. We called ours  and they said they  would have put a lock on it. have a nice day everyone! Would anyone know if the new recruits are allowed to wear crosses around their necks. My son has been wearing one since he was a year old and had to take it off for BC.   I'm wearing it now but I would really like it wear it belongs.  Thank you !!!

By the way, Mindyjrn:  That is so nice of you to have been sending letters to these girls!  I know they so appreciate it and will be so grateful for the gifts you want to give them.  By the way, if the gift is a giftcard, they should be able to return to base with that in their wallet.

guysmom:  The first I'm a Sailor call (9th)...so....if there are no calls between now and then (which there probably won't be but you never know), it won't be long.  The other divisions will be calling early during PIR week with their I'm a Sailor calls.

Good Afternoon!

Mindyjrn:  You can give it to them there, but they can't keep it....you will have to give it back to them either at the airport or once they move over to GL A School base.  Why not give them your phone number or address and let them contact you with their A School address?  Then you could mail them something....unless you will be at the airport with your own SR and can give them these gifts permanently there.

I've been writing to two girls who have no families. Want to get them a little something for graduation. Will I be allowed to take them into graduation to give to them?

I read on another site that some phone calls have been pushed back until battle stations. My son was one mentioned Div. 347. I am bummed but still waiting.
