N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Oh, sorry I got that backwards. My son is in Ship 04 DIV 008

Thanks for the comment. I know that no news it good news, but I just worry. I sent him a stamped envelope and a blank piece of paper today that said, "Dear Mom," on the top. Hopefully that will give him the hint. lol

It will not be 3 weeks until this Thursday. So maybe I will hear from him this weekend.

No call or letter. Hoping this week to hear something. Is anyone staying at the Springhill suites for graduation?
Comment by MissyMichele on October 5, 2015 at 10:30am

to Lib I read on your post from a day or so ago that your SR is on Ship 008 Div 004. My SR is in Div 004 but not ship 08. this maybe why you haven't received a call you may not have the correct div or ship?

I can say that the first phone call is great and is so needed for us as parents and recruits.  However I get the feeling that if my call was sooner than the boot camp schedule (before week 3) or my Sr had time for -  it may have been counter productive and not helpful.  (I know easy for me to say -sorry ) however I think letters will come first and could be any day.

Correct, Love My Sailor.  There are many reasons why SRs miss division calls.  They could have an appt  on base, be SIQ (sick in rack from wisdom teeth, etc), or have watch.  They can also lose a call if they have done something wrong, but more than likely,, it is not that.  Hoping you all get calls soon!

Good Morning!

I have not heard a thing from my son, but another person posted that her recruit was in the same S and D as my son and many were recovering from wisdom teeth removal and/or had watch. Also read that the 1st week wasn't really the 1st week due to falling behind so they are playing catch up...Saw that many D901's got calls yesterday. I don't know exactly how they make the call set ups but I have been standing or sitting by the phone all weekend myself...very depressing, but I do know my son will call...soon! Good luck all and keep the faith!

A's Mom - I am going through the same thing myself. I thought for sure I'd get a call Sunday. But nothing...........

This is hard, was attached to my phone all weekend, no call!!! I know other people got a call from the div my son is in. Don't really understand this. Feeling so bummed out.

*call and change it....

Comment by diannep on October 4, 2015 at 11:37pm

LIB:  You are able to stay at Navy Lodge courtesy of your sailor.  You must have military ID to stay there, unless you are family members of a graduating sailor.  You can either cll and change it, or change it when you check in.  Your sailor most likely will need to stop by the front desk at some point on PIR Day to verify.

Comment by Peace on October 4, 2015 at 11:25pm

I agree, just a short note or conversation would help so much!  I think I'm doing ok, and then the later it gets on Sunday, the more depressed I get.  Then I can't help but cry when it gets too late for a call.
