For the first time in 5 years, our son will be home for Thanksgiving:-)

My daughter is not longer on the USS GHWBush, she is now on shore duty for 3 years after 7 years of sea duty.  She will be in Norfolk for Thanksgiving with her boyfriend. We will be here in Michigan with our 2 sons.  Our oldest daughter has to work, so she will be in Sault Ste Marie.

That's awesome Michiganbelle! It's also great you will be there to spend some time with the sailors that won't have company. I am sure it will make their day! Our sailor just got to his ship about a week and a half ago in Norfolk, VA. so we won't be able to see him but am happy a family there is asking him to join them. make this Mom feel a little better =)

Wow, catching up with old posts, fun! Getting ready to visit my sailor for Thanksging, she has to work, but after that we will be at a sailor gathering for a few that aren't going home or having family visits either, so I consider myself a very very lucky Mom!

Hi Maeray, I am from Ottawa County too. Jenison to be exact.

Michimom: The time does fly. My sailor has never been off Oahu. He is content to ride his motorcycle and golf. I am visiting the beg of Nov and planning on trying one of those golf courses, but I do not really golf, I know the basics.Should be an interesting adventure!!!! I have a friend going along, she wants to go skydiving. I will take pictures!!! Such a sacrifice!!!!

It's been so long since I've been here, I don't remember if I mentioned that we had a great two-week visit with our sailor in April in Hawaii--one week on Oahu and one week on Maui.  Such a fun visit, although he might have been a bit tired of close quarters with mom and dad for two weeks.  :)

Here's one of my favorite pictures from that trip of the two of us on our snorkeling trip in Maui.

Hello, all!  Haven't been on in ages, although I do get on the FB page.  Been busy with all kinds of stuff.  My sailor just left within the last couple of weeks for deployment, somewhere in the Pacific.  So far, we've gotten one email (he was only out a couple of days at that point) and sent one back; I regularly send emails even though I'm never sure when he'll see them.  Kind of reminds me of boot camp.

This will be his last deployment, as he will be done by this time next year.  Where has the time gone?  Sometimes it seems like it's been forever, and other times it seems like very little time at all.

Yes, we know he will be working hard, but we hope he'll get to visit someplace cool and experience some different cultures.  He never made it off the base in Japan when he was there last deployment, but he did love Singapore.

And welcome to the new moms!  I remember when I was a new mom; always happy to answer questions and share info.

Momof10, welcome--at least you had one girl out of all the boys. I heard of a  family somewhere up north that I think has 12 or 13 kids all boys. My husband says he is out numbered now that our son is in the Navy-we have a daughter still at home, she is 26 and getting her masters to become a nurse practitioner.

MarianneKT's Mom - Hi!  Thank you.

I was actually telling my sailor that he will be arriving just in time for the air show.  He laughed and I see an airshow everyday - since he has been in P'Cola where they train. :)

It is amazing you will love it!!
