OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My son shipped 2 weeks ago today 9/22. Still no letter with his information in it. All I have is what I got from the recruiter and from what I hear that info could be incorrect. Is there any other way to find out his ship and div? I've sent letters to the address his recruiter gave me but I have no idea if he's getting them.

We should be getting our call and letters this week. Or that's what the pattern has been anyways. But I've seen something about a meet and greet. Who is it for and when and where?

Ken I don't believe they all have to have their wisdom teeth removed. I'm not sure why my son did. We asked if they was bothering him and he said no. But my son's best friend left for boot camp 1 week prior to my son and he didn't have his removed and his mom told me that his wisdom teeth have been bothering him so I'm not sure!

When my son called last week from 847 area code, we had a difficult time connecting, took several retrys. And some static at times during call that made me think we mite be done with call. Able to make it thru camm. Hang in there!!

I had a call from Chicago a few minutes ago but it disappeared.  I think it was a spam call because the call did not connect and I would hope she would have called back.  They don't give them just one call connection or not do they?

Missing my son like crazy! I know no news is good news. But, I just want a letter or call just to comfort my heart! Its very tough as everything reminds me of him. I have 5 kids and you would think by one not being home there's really not much difference but his siblings miss him so much. Last night we we're eating supper and all we did was talk about him. Praying for a call/letter! Keep the faith Fellow NavyMoms/Wives/Girlfriends/Dads/Uncles! ⚓⚓
