Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by SeasonedMom on October 7, 2015 at 12:16pm: Another thing I am doing is using a dry erase board to write messages from our dog to my son. I take pics of her, and then print the pics out on the letters I type (my handwriting has gotten horrible). I am also taking some pics of our yard as the leaves change, and of us as a family. Hoping that won't get him into trouble, as they are just printed on the page, they are not extras...But may give him a taste of home, and make him laugh when he sees what mischief the dog has gotten into today!

My dad is 87, and I know it would be hard for him to write out my son's address properly. So I went to the dollar store and bought some packs of simple, blank cards. I have addressed them to my son's ship, etc, and put stamps on them. My daughter is going to visit her grandpa this weekend, and she will bring them to him. I have also told my brothers to help themselves to the cards, and perhaps to write a few lines to Phil. I am also including an index card written in Sharpie to remind him to answer calls from IL, or the 847 area code, so that he doesn't forget or miss a call. Hope that all are doing well today.

Comment by diannep on October 7, 2015 at 11:50am: Natasha: Most calls from there will be the 847 area code but answer ALL calls when you have someone in Bootcamp since sometimes a supervised call can come in from another Chicago area code You don't want to miss it! Welcome to the group!

Calls are very random....they can come at any time....so keep your phone with you 24/7!

Comment by ellen0502 on October 6, 2015 at 9:00pm: Deb, The division numbers started with TG 01 and those divisions in TG 01 are 001-010. This is TG 02 and the division numbers started with DIV 011.

So this TG so far has division 011/012, 013/014, 015/016, 017/018 and 902, possibly an 800 division, but not sure on that one yet. That would mean nine divisions possibly 10 in this TG, but we have not yet heard a division number for the next TG, which is now starting to receive their form letters. Hopefully we will know soon.
