Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by TXSnowWhite on October 8, 2015 at 8:27pm: In two of my daughters letters she said send pictures of my "Ohana"(family), she loves Lilo and Stitch(mostly Stitch), but pictures aren't allowed right?? I was just gonna print some on the actual paper I write the letter to her on, would that be ok?

After about week three in training the Recruits start to feel more settled into the new lifestyle. It is good that she is sharing with you too.

The float is usually the challenging part of the swim test.

Prayers are ALWAYS good! Lifting her up and all of your Recruits!

And the shocker...he says he has learned to not talk much! I'm so happy to hear from him and relieved that he seems to love it! Hope others hear from their SR today or soon!

Comment by diannep on October 8, 2015 at 3:29pm: Natasha: Yes, you may send her a large envelope (stamped and self-addressed would be good!) to return her letters in. They have very limited storage space there.

Comment by diannep on October 8, 2015 at 3:28pm: Natasha: It usually takes about 3 weeks for the first pay to come in....it comes in on the 15th and at the end of the month. So most likely you will see the deposit next week. Remember, the first one is small since they take out costs for uniforms and supplies.

Jeanne: No, all do not get their wisdom teeth out. Some are ok, some are watched for a while, and others do get them out. If they feel they will pose a problem (or could) when deployed, they will take them. They get meds and 2 days in SIQ (Sick in Quarters...racks) after the extraction.
