Does anyone know if a ship typically leaves for deployment in the morning... or is it random (already had to change our flight once since the date has become a bit flexible).

Hi all - Happy Monday!

Got to talk to our sailor on Sunday - woohoo!  He sounded pretty tired but overall well.  He said he got sick after the flu shot - couldn't eat anything & had "bubbly gut" as he called it.  Said he lost almost 10 pounds because of it.  He's better now.  Went Saturday & used the massage gift certificate we sent him.  He said it was "the most amazing feeling & the worst feeling at the same time!" lol!  Glad he has a little time off to unwind & decompress before they head out for deployment.  Of course they all have a lot to do to prepare.  He won't be coming home & it doesn't look like we'll be able to head his way - just thankful that we got to visit him in July!

WooHoo - they are back!  Saw pictures on the FB page of the ship pulling in ;-)  Got a text from my sailor - he said he won't finish up until late tonight & has duty tomorrow but we will hear from him this weekend!

The Truman falls in the first group - FPO 095.

This will be my son's 1st deployment so I don't know much about sending packages....hopefully some of the veteran mom's on here will chime in with tips!

I hope I get to hear my sailor's voice soon.....

GT_Gal - you can send care packages.  They've put out the deadline for mailing....I saw it on FB the other day.  I'll find it & post it.

Here's a cute post I saw on FB over the weekend.  (Not trying to make light of the hurricane, but this was cute!)
