DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Deb:  Phones calls can be scheduled for a division and earned as well.  They also can "lose" scheduled phone calls.  Just have the phones with you at all times ..... even in the bathroom or when stepping out to get the mail!

The physical fitness requirements are "variable", it depends on age, gender, and if spec ops.

Here are a couple links to explain.

Thanks Nicole! I thought it was somewhere around there but couldn't remember. My SR has short legs courtesy of his mama so he's a little concerned about the run!

My sister is on the same ship. That's what it had on her letters as well.

I received a letter today!! Hope you got one too! My SR loves it. He is a LPO (Laundry Petty Officer) and carries the flag when they march! He said he has made a lot of friends!  Says it sucks there but it is totally worth it. Peanut Butter Shot sucked too.

So true myhope. I did notice that his return address included his ship name. Ship 3, USS Hopper, Division 11.

RDCs sound a lot like moms. We're really nice until you make us mad as well:-)

Comment by Chasesmom on October 8, 2015 at 10:24pm
Agree, myhope and Nicole. I can't imagine the stress they must feel He said it's hard but it's going to be worth it in the end. He was also excited about wearing their dress blues for PIR and the RDC's are nice unless you make them mad. Lol
Comment by Deb on October 8, 2015 at 10:06pm

I havnt received a phone call yet?  It says they are rare and a privilege, do they have yo earn it?  No letters either.
